Default New Miata Owner (CA)

Hello and good day to everyone!

I'm Andrew from San Jose, CA. I just bought my first miata!

It's a white 93 NA with tan leather interior, plus a few mods.

White Factory hardtop
HardDog Hardcore M1 or M2 Rollbar (Not sure which one)
Miata R Front Lip
Jackson Racing Cold Air Intake
Slotted Rotors at all 4 corners
Tokico Shocks
15" Rota Panasports
Flyin Miata Strut Bar
Front and Rear Chassis Braces

This is my first miata and my first manual car also. I know how to drive a stick but it has been a few years so ive been relearning. But in the 2 days ive had the car I am absolutely in love with it. The car looks great and drives even better. I look forward to driving this car for a long time.

What's up Andrew, welcome to CR.net. Sounds like a good car with some nice parts already on it.

"in for pics!"

Cool dude! Where in the bay area you live? I was actually hoping you would know of some meets around. Lol my battery actually died tonight so I had to leave my cr at work. Just think the guy before me didn't drive it much so the battery isn't in great condition but I'm hoping to fix that problem tomorrow.

Depends...those batteries get replaced and if it's still on it's second, then it's about time for #3. But you'll want a AGM battery! No lead-acid, unless want to see a rusty miata here in the bay (quite rare).

One good source is Norcal roadster for the meets here. And I'm sure there's some clubs as well.
I just went my first meet 2weeks ago in union city, but the SJ one -just met this week! Lol

I think we need to have a club roadster meet for us SF bay guys. (I'm thinking of making my own..hmmm.)

edit: I think o'reily has one specifically for the miata, but it's not a true AGM, it's a low breathing??? Lead- acid battery that uses the factory vent tubes. Should be the best short term replacement, unless, you can wait and research for the right battery and have it shipped. (though it may only take 2days with standard shipping)

go look on miata.net/garage in the batt section.

So I got a new battery in and the car started right up but for some reason now one of my belts is vibrating and screeching. Lol it hasn't been my time lately. I'm gonna post up a video with sound and a shot of the belt in a lil bit so any advice would be appreciated.

5bucks on it being the water pump if it hasn't been replaced. Or the WP/alternator belt, because I doubt the powersteering/A/C belt has anything to do with it. How is the A/C by the way?

The a/c is actually nice and cold. My biggest question is can I drive it 30 miles home? The temperature, oil pressure are all normal. And the engine isn't acting funny at all.

Hm, doesn't sound bad, probably just needs some tension. But keep an eye on the temp gauge, or if it feels funny. I would say you're okay.

Just need a cup of hot water to quiet the belt, or you can buy the spray for the belts. Speaking of meets, there is usually a group of people that meet up at miata.net, but its kind of booty. They don't really do anything but sit in the table and eat at wingstop. I was talking of a meet with some kind of mountain run.

so this is a video me and my brother took of the belt vibration and sound. i ended up not driving it home from work just to be safe. so helpfully this will help with the diagnosis.

yea i like the sound of your meet better. meet in a parking lot, talk and check out each others ride. then head out for a cruise.

Yea. Go it towed and the belt was cracked so no surprise it finally snapped. But everything is running fine now. So it's all good.
