Agent935, Souk, and I were all at the RRev dyno day today. They put on a dyno day to benefit Heads-up NW, a local drag racing group.
It was the usual "three pulls with wideband" setup. Souk didn't run (but we did gaze lovingly upon his OD-Green dime that's at RRev). Unfortunately the wideband crapped out on my run, but since I have one on my dash, i didn't worry too much. Car stayed at 14.5 to 4500, spiked to 11, and came down to 12.5/13 by 7k. I put down 142/116, Ben put down just over 100, and made sure we'd never have mosquito problems with the smoke he was chunkin'. It seems to be running a little rich. One of Ben's dyno runs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyqTKkTMODw One of my dyno runs will be up later, Somethings clogging up the youtubes. ...and my new dyno sheet: |

He has an RB header, no cat and RB catback too.
not sure what's up with my car with the smoke. the A/f was right at 12 for most of the runs and really steady which is a little on the rich side but not terrible. Time to put that 1.8 in. |

Thanks all. Ben, you gonna post yours?
I got your 1.8 stuff right here, found the FM TB adapter and cable bracket plus the 1.8 horns and you already have the coil bracket I gave ya. That should be everything, right? Aaanyhow, on topic: Yeah. Car's a 1994, with 1996 engine with ~90k on it. Unorthodox UDP, 2001/1999 Exhaust cams, 2001 lifters, Fuji ITBs, OER Subcon, RB header, exhaust, testpipe. Head is untouched, as is bottom end. |

Too bad you left early Matt, because Adam and his Toyota went on the rollers just to tease me and my money-pit Datsun. Anyone want to buy a Miata for CHEAP?
Ben, let me know when you are dropping the 1.8 in. I would like to help (learn). |

Damn, i'm disappointed at myself, I definitely should have gone. I bet I would have gotten a prize for lowest HP.
In any case good numbers and Matt, those are great curves! PS Matt: remind me about that FPR for sale, and if/when we could do that turbo install. |

Dynojet is the industry standard. Everybody has one and it's easy to compare numbers.

Explain to me how you're being negative calling Dynojet on the results?
BFD. the correction factor is right there on the sheet, and more importantly it's the same dyno at .01 off the correction factor of the last time I dynoed. To me it's more about the delta between this run and the last one. If i changed to Mustang or other brands I'd lose the ability to see what each modification is gaining me. |

So i went back to the dyno today.
Same mods as last time, just 5 more months of fiddly knob tuning. Went from 141whp to 146. Went from 116lbft to 120. Last dyno was @65*F, this one... 95*F. Then, 30.23in-HG, today was 29.96. then 43 percent hum, today 35. CF then .96, CF now 1.01. Real gains? CF is skewing me. Graphs to follow later, but figured I shouldn't start a new thread when I already had this one. |

that's within the margin of error man. I dunno if you actually made any gains there

seriously tho, 5hp at 30 degrees higher ambient temp is SOMETHING. 5? Maybe maybe not. Don't care all that much this was all for fun. Even if i made no power, I now have a new "seattle baseline" run so I don't have to go to RRev in PDX to get repeatable numbers, ya know? At least I know I didn't hurt the motor today abusing it like I did. Besides, it was a free dyno session, and that pull came after 3 hours of pulls that I wasn't tuning on, just running the car under full load for some non-performance stuff. Here's the chart. |

Dang, how do you do it?!
I'd say that's significant gains, it's been so hot here you'd think it would have been lower. Nice job! |

I do not know. If I knew, i'd bottle it and sell it. Heh.
I was expecting 135ish with the heat, the fact that i'd overheated the Miata 4x in the last hour prior to this and the fact that I was running just that stupid Fuji piggyback. I still don't have MS. I was blown away to make power, or at least break even, whichever I did. |
