maybe the dog got hit by the miata, and it crippled him now he is stuck with that wheel chair for the rest of his life.

IIRC, most publications at the time reported high 8s to mid 9s. Mine sure doesn't feel that slow though.

I was thinking it was some kind of cyborg-dog of sorts, much like the creatures in Doom.
