What Car has inspired you the most with the route you have choosen in modding your top down machine?
Here is mine. It was love at first site and I was very lucky that my friend had an issue of Auto Works with the same car, what are the oods? Clean, slammed, and a plethora of low offset, rare wheels. Thank god. This is my hero Car. ![]() ![]() ![]() Auto Works scan. ![]() Just felt like sharing. Many other Cars have influenced me but none like this. How 'bout you? |

well dj actually when I first saw pics of your car over at miata.net, I was like holy crap I gotta get some wider wheels. and I like ce28n's car a whole lot too. now that ive found this site pretty much every picture here is an inspiration.
I like this lil beast too but mmm...those rota gt3's just arent wide enough, although they would look nice with my slammed suspension. im considering gold ones though so I dont copy this guy. That or some rota autox's but still, that fwd offset |

The car that inspired me the most was the old blue potato. It was an awesome car. The new potato is nice but the old was my inspiration.
Nostalgic Roadstar above is an awesome website. Peter a/k/a Blue Potato should do the same modification to the hood and front bumper. That car looks like a Cobra!! |

When my '95 is finally completed (this year, I hope), my intention is that it will be seen as a pleasing blend of both JDM tuner touches and USA classic hot rod influences. I'm pretty sure that it will have more (tastefully) polished and chromed parts under the hood than any Miata I've ever heard about. Stay tuned...

Hmmm...I've never focused on one particular car and used it as a muse. Instead, I remember looking at a lot of different cars and noticing certain elements used in their execution which were particularly intriguing or beautiful.
If anything, I'd have to say Photoshop was my muse, as I experimented endlessly with it to modify pics to assist in visualizing the "perfect" modded Miata. I have dozens of photoshopped "prototypes" as a result. I must have spent at least a hundred hours modifying various cars (including Peter's Blue Potato) looking for the right combination of mods/colors/etc. Hopefully the end product will have the right flavor I'm aiming for...something relatively modern in technology & perfomance, but with a sort of early 60's club racer feel to it. If I do it right, it'd remind those who are into vintage racing of the Speedwell Racing cars or early TVR's. |

I used to have a mk2 austin healey sprite when I was a student but it was far from being a speedwell !!! at least I don't have to deal with rust any more  |

Have to go with djsqiigles on this one, the image he has (along with the rest of the images on the watanabe site) is what made me opt for a miata/eunos in the first place, and have to say the wheels you have yourself aint too shabby either.
Unfortunately we have an nct (national car test) over here which makes it illegal to have wheels that stick out beyond the arches/fenders...obviously not over there though??? |

I think I speak for a lot of people here.... I probably would not be here if it wasn't for Kendall's old car:
![]() I've drooled over Hyper-Revs since around ~2001. And I loved Larry Kyosai's stunning showcar as well... but I have to say, when Kendall's car first surfaced it really was groundbreaking. The stripped interior with all the radio and vent holes all blocked off, glistening white paint and a single Bride full-bucket seat.... was totally refreshing. The clean purposeful engine Bay with an ARC chamber, Maxim Works header and a RSR GT2 exhaust, and the clean exterior highlighted by the Work Equips shows how elegant an Miata can be without being cluttered with unnecessary gee-gaws. I guess you can say he adapted the Honda-Tech minimalist style to the Miata- and you would be right, but that still doesn't take away from the impact his car had on all of us Miata modders. As for me- I'm not going to go as far as stripping the interior. Also I like JDM gizmos too much to be a real 'minimalist'... but I still idolize Kendall's approach, because he showed us you can make your Miata stand out without following the retro-chrome path that many Miata tuners have been doing. For this reason I have resisted all temptations and kept my interior 100% chrome free |

I'd have to say that either Kendall's gutted miata, or the OP's that have really been giving me ideas.
![]() The stance is 100% perfect, and the wheels and exhaust are my two favorites of all. They've basically made me want to hold out for a white car when I sell my DD and have enough cash for an MX5. |

I was inspired by watching a lot of things...Kendall/CE28n's minimalist cars, old cars running the Mille Migla on Legends of Motorsport, also this car:
The Fish I'm turning Junior into a lightweight roadster...the only Marina racer in existence! ps - The Toyota 2000Gt has got to be one of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen! |

ive had my roadster for about 3 years now, i havent really modified it that much, partly due to my age and insurance (bought it when i was 18) stuck some nice wheels on it as the standard rims were crappy lookin' and made some adjustments to make it sound beefier but that was it... one day this winter i find a site with the sexiest white roadster ive ever seen..
![]() now it is my mission to make it look like that!!! |
