[quoted from GTPlanet]zr1chris GTP Addict
Here is 5 roadsters that are all around better. 65' Shelby Cobra, 66' Mercedes 300SL, BMW Z3 or Z4 (which ever you prefer), Porsche Boxter S, Honda S2000. Mind you this is only Roadsters. There is now way that the Miata makes the top 20 all time list. I want to punch this moron in the throat. The f***ing Z3 is more "legendary" than the Miata?!

The fact this guy specifically chose a 1971 model Challenger shows what he knows. Sweet, the year of fake air vents and lower horsepower.

the people who are insisting the miata arent a legendary car have no credible facts as to why it shouldnt be.
"miata's are slow, common, cheap and aren't sitting in museum so they aren't legendary" WTF does that have to do with anything? its the car itself. it was an icon of the 90's and it single handedly revived the roadster. |

I wouldnt say legendary, more like a modern classic. It did reinvent the roadster in america and proved that a lightweight, small, droptop sports car could appeal to the masses.
I believe it is the best selling roadster of all time, correct me if I wrong. |

I think history will show that it was/is legendary for reasons already stated and well known. IMO - this makes it a living legend. 20 years from now people will still be very familiar with the history of the Miata. Not sure we'll be able to say the same thing about cars like the Solstice/Sky that tried - and failed - to snag a piece of the Miata's market share.

Hands down, its THE best sports car for the money. Its also one of the most popular track car for individuals on a budget or who are learning. By far, every single instructor who I have talked to, has said the best car to learn on is the Miata.
-Its cheap to race (relatively here) -will take hp out of the braking, acclerating, turning equation, making it much easier to learn the basics -VERY well balanced Add to that, its the highest selling roadster/sports car, and the cheap prices, and I think its easily one of the best cars ever made and that every car enthusiast should drive one at one point. |

I said no. Miata is a great car, but I reserve "legendary" status to something even greater. Something that was a game changer or something that was part of a historical event. GT40, Ur-Quattro,RS 200, Stratos, original Mini Cooper comes to mind at the moment.

Durring the mid 80's the presedent of Mazda asked a Motor Trend editor what kind of car Mazda should make. He replied that no one made an honest, simple, British sports car anymore. A few years later, Mazda goes "TA DA! And now the average man can have drop top sports car fun. Pretty freaking Legendary if you ask me. Ya it's low on power, but shouldn't it be consididered remarkable that Mazda was able to create something that was so fun to drive with so little power? Also, more power equals more money, which ruins the whole point of the car in the first place. |

Legendary is different for anyone.
Ledendary to me: slabside 289 cobra, ferrari 250 GT lusso, 1964 Pontiac GTO, off the top of my head. Someone else might think the delorean was legendary. Anyway, the miata is the all time seller in its class. It is dependable, modifiable, and a great handling two seater. Legendary? I dunno. |

^interesting that your time is so short, yet you have time to post useless messages about how short you are on time...
Is this oxymoronic, or just moronic? hmmm.... |

Yes. The potential is endless. I don't believe an explanation is needed. If you don't agree, you need to read up on how to extract it correctly and effectively.
