lol you guys are lucky. I just bought my 92 black/tan for just under $4000 with 108k miles on it in decent shape, and though that was a steal. Miatas go for 8k up here for decent condition ones.
NA's are listed near 10gs all the time, hell I saw a BRG that sold for 14gs a month ago. this cheap sports cat won't be so cheap for long at this rate. yeesh. |

I for one say to spam this foo's on CL.
It's a damn joke! Seriously! Most miata NA's are in the 1500-2500 region. NOT the 3500-4500 for a ugly white 90 torn top car. I also saw some nice ones. I almost gave up my NB for a $3500 um..some light blue one 94 with hardtop, it had bbs wheels, 80K great paint! Only down side was it was a automatic. Another was a BRG not sure if it had a hardtop, great paint, for around the same price. Also 97M's are nice, too bad they're heavy. |

But yeah, look up and above NC for your search. I ended up getting mine 200 miles away in VA. Did you say how long you've been searching? Took a couple months for me to find the one that met all my criteria. |

The best time to buy a Miata is during the winter time. Nobody wants a convertible when its cold and raining. I bought a 99 NB1 base with 89k miles for $4400 last October. I recently sold it for $6k, it was in the exact same condition as it was when I bought it, +5k miles. The car was gone within 24 hours of posting it online. The buyer didn't even try to negotiate.
You can still find some good deals today, but you have to check the listings hourly. Two weeks ago I found a 01 NB2 with 100k miles for $5200. The guy posted the ad a few hours before I found it. I went down there immediately, drove it and bought it for $4600. His phone was ringing of the hook while I was there. I haven't seen a decent NB2 for under 7k in Socal. |

Bought my NA for 1800 off another member here
got a hard top and other goodies here and there and have loved it since. If miatas get popular then i'll sell it and hop into something else and possible make a small profit |

uggghfff ... Cali sounds terrible.
My father has bought 2 miatas in the past 3 months: 1995 M Edition for $5500 <50K miles, 1 owner, garaged since new ... absolutely immaculate 1997 Limited, tan leather for $3800 34K miles, 1 owner, garaged since new ... slightly worn drivers seat, one ding, a cream puff by most peoples standards. Both off craigslist in MA -Zach |

You've just discovered why i bought an NB. Unless you get lucky, the NB is usually better value these days. |

i just bought my 91 silver NA bout 3 weeks ago with 59k miles for $4200 and been thru 2 owners. 2nd owner was an old man who hardly drove it and had it for 6 months. The original owner was a lady from Connecticut where it was garage kept and only brought out when the sun was out. My friend who's a mechanic couldn't believe how immaculate it is inside and out and absolutely no rust. I feel like i got a decent deal.
i'm still quite hesitate to own this car in NYC. Stupid thieves + stupid weather = |

I test drove a 1999 Sport with 11k miles on it this past June. They wanted $14k for it, used the low miles as a selling point. Quote:

im not getting a NB simply due to the fact its going to be a turbo car. Any OBD II car in NC has to be hooked up to the computer for emissions and what not. Any car with a test pipe, and CEL on, etc is an immediate fail and there isnt a way of getting around it. So by getting a miata that is 1995 and below it just has to pass a simply visual check and when you know a few mechanics who do inspection they can easily pass it. I hope the guy with the tan top miata calls back soon to see how many miles are on the thing

See if I was smart, I would sell my car and hop out of the miata game.
But.. I have an interpersonal attachment to this car for some reason, it has never happened to me with any other modded car. This is the first car I wont be significantly profiting off of only because.. I want to keep it. Even though I told myself I would never do that. Maybe its how fun it is, the necks it breaks, or the fact that its a 2dr roadster that I can just pull the top off. Its kinda like that girl that catches your heart, but you cant figure out why. Maybe its how fun she is, the fact that she breaks necks everywhere, or the fact that she is simply always ready for you to pull her top off. I also never planned on that one.. Single and ready to mingle was always the way it went. I <3 my girls car. For the record. Cars>Bitches |

I just bought my '90 NA for $2800 w/ 170k miles. I thought that was more than it was worth, but after seeing what Miatas near Atlanta are going for right now, it seemed like a fair price.
I agree with the earlier statement about the 240sx. They used to be a real big thing, but finding a 5-speed that isn't a piece of junk is difficult, and when you do the owners want a fortune. So people started looking for something new. The Miata was always popular in AutoX, and it's starting to lose it's "girly" reputation, especially with "car guys," so prices have started coming back up. |
