radio problem--not for miata

I know this doesnt have anything to do with a miata but I thought some of the electronics experts might be able to give me some advice. I am trying to fix a radio in a friends 98 mercury sable... The radio and temp/fan controls are all in one unit. The fan and temp controls work fine but the radio and clock have no power. The fuses are fine and all the wiring looks fine. I was looking in other forums and searching and I found someone else with the problem who replaced it with a working radio and still got no power... noone else on the forum had any suggestions. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with it? Thanks
