Default Too much free travel (intermittent)

Anybody had this problem before?

Yesterday the clutch was fine. Haven't had any transmission symptoms until this morning. The car sat for 8 hours (overnight), and when I started the car this morning The clutch felt different, there was too much free travel!

It has had this problem all day and I haven't had a chance to look at it yet. But I noticed something that was strange to me, when I "pump" the clutch the free travel goes down. Instead of having 5-6 inches of travel it goes down to 2 inches of travel. Before this I had the normal 1-1.5 inches of free travel in the clutch. Any suggestions?

I'm going to check the slave cylinder tomorrow for leaks or any indication of a break in the seal, and I might be able to check the adjustment. Here's hoping that some strange mysterious way it's an adjustment issue, I can't afford to replace anything. I just bought a roll bar last week

If the slave is ok, drain the system pull the master and check for fluid leakage there.

betcha a donut the slave is on it's way out....typical problem, but not the end of the world. check the boot on the slave for fluid..if it is we, change the slave...and bleed thoroughly...

if it is dry, bleed the system anyway and see if that improves things...if it does not, change the master.

damn, should have just checked it before wasting a thread. anyways....it was as I suspected. The slave cylinder was bad. I've never run into this problem before so I didn't know that the boot would still keep just enough pressure to barely allow you to drive. Changed it in like 10 minutes and only cost me 30 bucks. Woohoo!
