Did a search and didn't come up with much. I was looking to get a different valvecover with the raised words to have it painted wrinkle red but wanted to know if it will fit my motor. It's a 99 Miata with the stock 1.8. Right now my current one has recessed wording and I don't like the valvecover being all in one color. I was planning on sanding the lettering down to a polish finished with the wrinkle red. Images are borrowed, not mine.
Want one like this: ![]() Currently:

That top one from a 1.8 engine will not fit the recessed 1.6 valve cover because of the CAS placement in the back area.
The 1.8 Cam Angle Sensor is on the driver side and the 1.6 VC is on the Passenger side. ![]() ![]() You'll need to get a VC from a Capri as below to fit the 1.6 engine. ![]() _ |

Wow...that got over-analyzed with a quickness.
No easy valvecover swap for a 99. They all have recessed lettering. 01-05 won't fit (I'm sure someone will suggest that by thread's-end). Only the 94-97 1.8L have the raised lettering (OK the MSM does as well, but good luck getting a MSM valvecover). If you really want to get creative and have the raised lettering, you can use the 94-97, but you'll have to find a way to mount the cam sensor to the front of it like your 99 has. You'll need the block off plate from your 99 for the CAS area. Ever wonder how people do that 99 head swap into a NA and retain the NA valvecover? The same operation but reversed. Here is a NA with a NB head running the NB valvecover...using the NA CAS on the back of the head. ![]() And RevLimiter's NA with NB head and NA valvecover. Note the raised lettering of the NA valvecover and the intake manifold of the NB. ![]() This is the part you'll need to figure out if you're going to make it work....the cam sensor for the 99+.
