Just recently got my car- I'm in the process of getting it "on the road" unfortunately yesterday I failed my emmission test. I also noticed I am getting real shitty gas mileage... tech did a quick "once over" and told me my 02 sensor is gone which could be the cause of the shitty mileage...

coincidentally enough, I went to partsource yesterday, as I've had a CEL for almost as long as I've had this car (4 months-ish). Turns out I got a bad o2 sensor.
anyhow, they are quite costly if you get a plug and play one, or you can get a generic one and splice the wiring. Here's a DIY http://www.miata.net/hakuna/0004/h0001.htm edit- partsource said $200 ish for a PNP o2 sensor. I've googled around and it seems to be 20-60$ for a generic o2 sensor where you have to splice. also, I believe there are 2 o2 sensors, one before and one after the cat. |
