Hi, I'm expecting to pick up this engine this week end.
It's a BP-Z3 from a 2002 NB, said to be low mileage. The A/C and starter were sold but everything else seems to be there. I would like to know if there is particuliar things I should double check before buying it. I was expecting to pop the sparkplug and take a look inside the combustion chamber with a little light. But I don't know what else I could do without a starter. I'm not familiar with the variable plenum and the VVT, I actually have a 1990 1.6L ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thank you, I'm waiting for your replies! |

So this is going in your 90?
there are some things you will need to do to make this work...not sure what because i have not done this, but there is a lot to the VVT stuff and the 90 ECU will not control Looking for comments from someone that knows more about this than me...but MNet power/swap section would be a good place to start to look for info |

I saw that earlier this week on diyautotune website, I did'nt take time to read it tho.
I'm a little more concerned about what to do and how to get the engine, I have an Explorer 2003, pretty sure the engine will sit in the back of the truck, but I am afraid of getting it up there, I think it weights something around 300 lbs ? Am I right or wrong? I have something like 200 miles of road to do to get the engine (400 totale) |

MS makes things much easier..that tidbit was left out of the initial post..
As for the Explorer handling the motor?...piece of cake...but you are going to need an engine lift to get it in and out... |

Yeah, I did'nt mentionned it in there, this thread was more about getting a BP-Z3,
I guess the best bet would be to rent an engine lift then bring it to the guy, seems better than carrying a trailer over 400 miles |
