Default Upgrade ebay air intake

I want to replace my current ebay intake (picture below) with something with a heat shield, since it's probably sucking hot air. I don't want to cut into the firewall for the randall cowl intake. Will any of the following make a difference?

All of those are stupidly overpriced for what they are. You could easily make one yourself using a cardboard template and some sheet aluminum with some edge guard to make it look nice.

Moar pics of the 10AE?

Why would this fit a '00, but not a '99?

If it fits a 2000, it'll fit a 1999. The eBay seller doesn't know what they're talking about.

Same with this on Amazon. It says it fits 2000, but not '99

That amount of time you spent writing your post wasn't worth the time/money invested in changing your intake.

Why replace that whole intake? Get a good k&n and throw it on ur intake. Make a heat shield.

Done.

You're not going to gain any power by wasting hundreds

True, but I have my doubts about the quality of no name filters.

Then why not just take the bottom of the air box off and build a heat shield. Problem solved and you don't need to overpay for K&N. You get the noise and zero power, same result.

What do you do with the air hose for these custom intakes that don't have a hose on the intake?
