i noticed that i was leaking oil when i saw some oil stains on my drive way about a week ago. i havent fixed it cuz ive been busy. i raised the car to see where it was leaking from and took some pics. the one i can see where it was coming from was behind the bottom pulley so i was thinking it was the oil pan seal behind the pulley. am i correct? i cant really tell where the oil is leaking from. does anyone have an idea where its leaking from? how much do you think it would cost to fix.
Look like the crank Seal.
I got mine fix at Pit Garage in South El Monte.
My NA did the same before,Since once u replace the Crank Seal the timing belt need to come off at the same time,so I have them replace my Crank seal and Cam Seal timing belt. Can't remember how much I paid.it's around $3xx.
The Seal are cheap, the most is labor,so I would say replace all seal at once then u would save up some labor.
Rear main seal or cam angle sensor o-ring. I had a huge leak when I got mine, around a quart every 1000 miles. As a lazy fix, I used Bar's Engine Oil Stop-leak and oddly enough, it worked. The leak has pretty much stopped.
But I'd say replace. It's fairly simple to do both, except for the whole gearbox removal thing for the RMS. lol
My big one was the Cam Angle Sensor. There's only a stupid little o-ring between your engine oil and the outside world - and of course it gets worn down and flattens out. From there, the oil travels down the firewall and leaks on everything - it made me think it was the Rear Main Seal at first. The CAS is the easiest to replace, followed by the Main Seal and lastly the Rear Main Seal.
yeah, i would check the CAS o-ring first. it's easy to check if that's the culprit too, just stick your finger below the sensor on the back side of the motor (might be tricky with all the wiring in the way) and check for any wetness.
replacing the rear main would be a lot more work obviously, hopefully that isn't it. GL
