Even better: check compression and replace all of the seals on the engine with the supercharger, pull your engine and trans, and swap over. Removing and replacing the engine and transmission is a day job on a miata.
thanks for the responses guys, however, there IS a problem with the current 1.6 in there now. it leaks oil and smokes reallly bad. and were not sure what it is, so i bought a totalled miata with the supercharger on it hoping that i could just switch out engines and not run into any kind of major headaches. is the wireharness the same on the computer?
Nope. An engine swap on a Miata is extremely easy. You'll just remove your current 1.6 and put the new one in. Perhaps swap over your known-good sensors from the old engine to the new. And probably swap out your top engine harness (injectors, etc) between engines.
I like to pull an engine one weekend, swap parts and clean the engine bay for the next week of evenings, and put an engine back in the following weekend. Gives me a lot of time to make sure everything is right. I've done it all in a day before. That involves a little bit of hurrying (for me).
Wow, i need to go to f-ing bed....I mean a 1991 miata.
I answered my own question. Let this thread die.
