im new the the miata game. former vw and honda kid. im tryna find aftermarket cams, gears, springs retainers, and a ecu tune. but im coming up a tad short. i know FM build motors. but i know if you build just the head out of k or b series honda motors you can see up to 60hp gains. any advice would be awesome.

Mazdas are not Hondas. Integral and Web makes cams as do many of the typical JDM tuners like HKS, Toda, Maruha, etc. Those same companies also make adjustable cam gears. Toda makes solid lifter conversions for the 1.6 or you can just use OEM NB parts. You can get springs, retainers, etc. from Supertech. The stock ECU is not easily tuned. Better to throw it away and install Megasquirt.
Sadly, Integral is no longer in business. I would suggest looking at the "Sponsor" section here and using that as your jumping off point. I can personally say that a lot of what you are looking for I have gotten from our sponsors.
thanks for the help and advice. finally found some cams at horsepowerfreaks.com but now i dont know on what spec cams to go with. i dont want to be to aggressive and wind up blowing my motor apart if i over rev on accident. And ive seen plenty of dudes run IRTB and i never knew the benefit of them. i know increased throttle response means better acceleration. but aside from that i dont know the benefit.
If you're really serious I have a built 1.6 head with supertech valves, springs, titanium retainers and full port and polish that will handle the flow of some cams and RPMs if you're interested
I was thinking around $800. I've got around $650 in hard parts, $350 in machine work and assembly, port and polish was done by me but I wouldn't want to know the cost of it
Best spring in the games is the VS855 Volvo spring, this spring runs upwards of 9000RPM with no float unfortunately sealed power no longer makes this spring but Elgin still makes there version of it the part number is RV-1182 probably the cheapest spring you can buy @ $4 a spring
If your planning to keep stock internal you can bet to see about the 150HP range with head, itbs and cams start bumping up the compression though and you will start seeing more power. The thing with itbs is you need a built motor to get the most out of them otherwise a turbo is the best bet. N/A miata motors are expensive to build as the motor was already built to take boost (block originated in a turbo 323) stock blocks can take 12psi all day long. Do not expect to see the same power outputs on a miata as you would a honda it just wont happen, but with the right suspension and driver that miata will still be faster.
If you have any questions in regards to a N/A B6 build feel free to shoot me a PM I can provided you with oooodles of info for it.
Don't go with something that's too strong though, or you'll wear your seats out really quick.
