looking for a write up on the easiest way to take off the oil pan..been hearing taking out the engine from the engine bay up top or removing the subframe..now i work at a Honda dealership so i have access to my power tools/lift..was wondering if anyone can point me to the right direction.

some of you might know me from my previous miata.

sold it for personal reasons..picked up a virgin white one not too long ago...slapped on hardtop..installed new d2's coils...15x9 0et all around..misc stuff here and there..had to add the mustache for times sake.

running over a hammer/mallet on the freeway = busted up oil pan..hence the reason i need advice.

thanks for the help in advance peeps!

you bought petis' car.

those dont look like et0 on ej9 up front.

first, put your ehadlights down :p
then lift car in air and smash oil pan to pieces.
drink beer, feel accomplished.

then sign in to your dealerships alldata accountt and maybe it will have instructions?
idk haha

edit pics added, and instructions.
the attatchments are from alldata.
reinstall in opposite order.

you may be able to just undo the steering rack brackets from the crossmember instead of disconnecting the intermediate rod. whatever is easier.

Thanks! I never knew how to use the attachment feature on here? I've always thought that they were just small, useless pictures that could barely be seen!

OP... Yeah, it's either pull the engine or hold the engine up and drop the subframe. Or you can drop the subframe with the engine attached and then pick the engine up and replace the pan. There is no easy way around it unfortunately.

thanks ForAllMankind..pics helped alot..looks like i'll finnish the job tmw..all i did was raised the engine slightly and took half of the subframe bolts off..wasnt sure what to do next.

mallet ended up taking a piece of drain bolt/oil pan off...i found a 5 mph speed limit sign a while back..im gonna try to make a new oil pan shield out of it.

once again thanks fellas.

Sucks! Running low has its cons, I see. Seems like a few others have had the same issue. I bet that some kind of skid plate covering that area would help out a lot. Hmmm.... (^_^ ) ??
