Has anyone on here had an experience with this brand?

I'm having a few thoughts about flywheels and this seems like a good price but I want a good quality flywheel too.

I've been rocking their cromoly flywheel in the 1.6 for a few months now. Excellent product, so far! It is a little louder on Decel, but all of them are when you go lightweight. Great engine acceleration, and decel, and excellent daily driveability.

I went with an Exedy OEM clutch, though I'm starting to wish that I had "upgraded" while the car was apart.

I called around; and to lighten and balance the OE flywheel was going to cost me $150, so the F1 price is worth the extra time and hassle.

I have had one in my car for about two months. I have not had any problems with it. Just check with them as the batch I got mine from had the pressure plate holes tapped wrong, they told me before I ordered. I got a set of bolts from ARP for $17. Put it in with the upgraded O.E. clutch. Love it.

well first off, its a 1.6 clutch in a 1.8 , making at least 140 at the crank.
the stage 1 is organic, its rated at like 177ft lbs torque. i bought it off ebay from gripforce.
i had it installed by Roadstertuner. he did a great job. it was installed along with a 6 speed swap.
i did the 500 mile break in , and on the 500th mile , i was at adams kart track. i noticed somewhere around that time that it would Slip if i tried to make it chirp in 2nd gear. just recently, at Buttonwillow, (2 track days later,1 autocross, and 3 adams short track days) it showed me its true colors, out of the grid, it slipped all the way through 1st , and 2nd. till i let off . now if im nice it wont really slip ,or noticeably so, but im not sure it will last.
so im trying to get a hold of Gripforce to return it. but that means i have to pull the tranny again.

cause its NA, and the smaller setup has less rotational inertia. common trick . its all over 949's site.
didnt ya know.
also the F1 pressure plate feels like pillows next to the oem Exedy i replaced it for.

The F1 PP is a exedy PP (Diaken). There's no difference other than the pretty PP color.

+ 1 on the F1 stage one slipping for the one 1.6 mine does all the time when im getting into it. but im going to keep it till i get a light wait flywheel. how ever it is relly nice to dd on. let us know how the fly wheel goes.

2 months ago . i have an F1 1.6 flywheel. it seems fine. i dont think the clutch is engaging fully.
it has trouble going into 1st randomly.im not happy , im going to buy the Exedy Stage 2 tomorrow.
i love exedy . i dont know why i bought this other cheap ****.at least it was only $87.

i just talked to GripForce today , they are trying to say i abused the clutch by taking it to the track. he said it was heat that was causing it to slip , basically that i was burning it up . i am the nicest guy i know to parts. my **** is as babied as a driven part can be.

Trust me, I see the marking on the PP and I used to build and test and sell clutches. It's a Daiken PP

Yes u are right.
HOWEVER..
If U build clutches. Then u know the only thing Exedy about the F1 PP is the body. V

Exedy / Dakin also sells the 100$ "Cheap clutch kit"
This would be the same PP as the f1 kit. Sad, Less holding power than a 3 yr old girl walking my neighbors mastive.:fp:

Exedy oe is a tamer version of the Exedy stage 1 PP
Exedy stage 1 is very close to the OE PP except for stronger straps.
And strap strength goes up yet again with the stage 2 exedy. Thick or thin.
Hope this clears things up.
If not Goodwin racing has great insight on his website=]
If your driving the car HARD.. Get Stage 2
Stage 1 In 1994-2004 (1.8) is good too.
I have just under 50K on my Exedy stage 2 Thick, paired with Toda race FW 1.6 versions:eek:
I run an ORC (Ogura Racing Clutch; A "matched" setup) In the MC track car.
BTW the SM frontrunners use Exedy stage 2 (1.6) & the lightest FW they can find for the money. f1? ACT?
If money is no option .. COMPETITION CLUTCH (949R Twin Disk) is light & strong. Only need a nice clutch pedal stop. This is also a "matched" setup.
Hope this helps:fab:

Tossing a wrench into the OP query. I've had the XTD 6puck clutch & chromo 9lb flywheel.

DEFINITELY get a lightweight flywheel while your doing this. I think this is one of the best NA upgrades.

Only negative thing i have was/still is 'chatter' that is noticibly loud between 3k-4k when i'm off the throttle in 2nd/3rd/4th gear. First i thought it was the tranny going.

Not sure how the F1 is for longevity, but if it's on 949's site.... gotta be good right?
