Hello, i hvn't posted much but comes a time that you have to. so about a week and half ago i saw a little spot of oil on the ground where i parked my car. not knowing what it was i looked and let the car run, turned the car off, drove around. nothing. there is smoke from what smells like some burning oil, probably hitting the trans and burning off since no smoke appears till after i drive around a little. the leak is at the back of the engine and not knowing what it was i changed the valve cover gasket and after reading hours of other forums i changed the crank angle sensor O-ring and still there is smoke after driving around. Any help would be appreciated. I go to community college and make not a lot a Frys so if im in need of a new engine or rather a rebuild any help of sourcing help for cheap near 92069 CA would be appreciated as well. welp i think that all. i have a 1995. thanks to anyone who has input. im going Saturday to the school casue my friend in the auto class is going to help me put the car on a lift and check it out, any guidance as to what to look for would help. this is my DD car so trying to fix asap
I dont think its exhaust smoke since i can rev engine and smoke wont start shooting up and i dont hear any whine or wissle from a crack or something, i think its from the back of engine like on top of trans cause that is where i cleaned a lot of grime off and such, i cant really reach down there but i think smoke from there, right behind engine more less in trans tunnel
Yes i have checked the CAS O-ring, was the second thing i did to "solve" the problem. there was a lot of talk on past forums about that causing oil leakage but no dice after changing it.
Did you apply any sealant in the corners of the valve cover gasket?
Also, what gasket did you use? In the past I have had problems with Fel-Pro products.
Don't start fretting over an engine rebuild yet, it just sounds like a minor issue.
