About halfway through dyno tuning today the cabin of my car started smelling very strongly of fuel. On the street it smells strong every time I get on the throttle hard. I pulled up the carpet and took off the fuel tank cover and couldn't see or smell anything. Any ideas where I should start troubleshooting? I am clueless.
There are no signs of a fuel leak in the engine bay. When it smells, it is strongest at the parcel shelf.
Check the lines that run between the pump and the fuel rail, it's possible one got damaged or has a pinhole leak. Be especially careful checking the hose ends or where any contact with the body could have happened. :/
Getting on the throttle hard makes the cabin smell "fuel-ish"
I took off some hood risers I had...and it almost went away. leading me to believe my issue comes from the engine compartment. still bugs me...cant find the culprit... lemme know if you solve it
Well....the problem seems to have solved itself. Either that or the use case is specific to 2 hours on the dyno. I've driven the car the rest of the weekend and can't replicate the fuel smell scenario. I even did a little fine tuning on the highway today which involved several back-to-back 3rd and 4th gear pulls and I never smelled fuel once.
So...unless it happens again I suppose I'll just ignore it. No sense in trying to fix something I can't prove is broken.
