Knock from the Head

So since last night my Engine is making a scary knocking noise from the head and I don't know what's going on. I noticed it after opening my door and turning the music off, my HLA were ticking like nuts but they do that regulairly but I noticed a knocking noise as well, so I then drove home shitting bricks everywhere thinking I spun a rod bearing, but everything runs fine, exept the knocking. Oil seems fine, gonna change the Oil tomorrow.

You can hear it best at 0:26-0:30 the problem is my HLAs wont stop ticking so it's not as easy to hear, but it gives you a good idea on how "loud" the knocking is. It's a NA8 with 66.666 miles on it.

You have really noisy HLA's some are louder then others. It does sound like one or two are stuck.. I had one that would be relentless and tap in accordance to RPM meaning as you give it more RPM its pitch would change along with it. Sounds like what you got there..

You can change the oil...50/50 if it goes away.

I'm really not worried because of the HLAs they tick at the start and sometimes stop after driving the car warm, when they don't stop I rev the engine a little higher and then they will stop. It's really just the knocking. If I can make the HLAs shut up with tomorrows oil change and the knock is still there I'll make a new video where the knock is clearly hearable.

Also Nev, sorry for not responding to your PN on RD, I just dicovered it... 4 month too late.

I'd pull that spark plug out and check the threads on it and the head. It it was that loose and for who knows how long, it can bang up the threads pretty bad and come back. I've had a spark plug or two come loose and it's that last thing you think of..and you usually find it when looking around and just happen to sit your hand on the plug wire making the noise stop lol
