Please Help!?!! Crank Pulley

I have no idea what is going on or if this is fixable. I have 92 miata that was produced in 3/92. I have already verified that I have a long nose crank. However I most definitely have a wobble. I read the article posted on miata.net about long nose crank problems but I am not really sure what to do or if it is serious.

I just bought the car and didn't even check for the problem because i knew it was a long nose car, my mistake I think. The car also only has 110k on the odometer.

I took the PS/AC belt off to see if it was just an optical illusion, but no, it still wobbles just as much. Also the PS/AC belt was worn like I've never seen before, practically new looking in some parts, and really thin in others, same thing with the alternator belt.

When the motor is cold there is no wobble or at least non that's noticeable. After about 1 minute of idling or so it starts up, and wobbles a little worse once it is completely warmed up.

This is a short video I took of it to really no avail, you can't really see any of the wobble in the video but it is definitely very noticeable in person.

So....what should I do? Is it safe to keep driving it like this? Also it only wobbles horizontally, not in and out. Could the pulley just be bent? Opinions would be highly valued on this topic.

Hmm, tough to tell in that vid. In my 90, the wobble was greatly visible. I also had a metric ****-ton of oil spewing all throughout the bay. It might be worth it to make sure that the crank pulleys are torqued to spec, and that the belts are properly tightened.

Is it just me? I didn't see the least bit of pulley wobble. Just the alternator belt flapping around a bit and begging to be tightened up.

Same here of course the camera was moved around a lot i think if it was more stationary with some added light it would be easier to get opinions.

I would check that the pulley has been properly fitted to the crank. There is a pin that the pulley fits over, and the outer washer has to fit over the pin as well. The entire pulley is only held to the centre by four small 10 mm bolts.
Take the belts off and see if it is loose.
As some one else also said check the centre bolt for correct torque as well.

There's been some dodgy descriptions of how to loosen and retorque the centre bolt on this site so see if you can get or make the crank holding tool.

assuming the crank bolt is tightened its most likely the pulley ooor a sheared key i had a similar problem with my 93 the problem is usually with the small nose cranks but sometimes happens to the bignoes and is much easier to repair than having to change the crank
