i know theres a write up about this and i have mailed the thread starter, but no response..
i know how to do it but the write up is not on a mk1 NA mx5, hes used loads of washers (x4 each mount which look thick'ish)
just wondering is there any different with a mk1 NA mx5? because i know theres only so much thread you have got each side so obviously i dont want to run out of thread..
has anyone done this on here on there NA? just wondering how many washer you have used..
I'd say about 1-1.5cm is about as much thread you could stand to lose. Instead of doing this though, you should raise your damn car so this isn't a problem.
OP, I've done this on my NA. I used 3 washers on each side & replaced the motor mounts with offset ones. raised the engine about three-quarters of an inch (dramatic! difference)
also, you can use a lot more, I just didn't feel safe past that point for numerous reasons. Breezy did a quick DIY write up on this though & durty harry had done this a long time ago on an NA. there are surely multiple others since.
raising the motors throws off the entire balance of the car... Might as well say good bye to all of your cornering.... yes thats a little dramatic. but its the truth... why not just buy an engine shield and raise your car up a little. or even larger profile tires.
I said the exact same thing about sitting in it while driving, so either I ride with my twin brother at events or I just use my remote control setup.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
