Hey dudes. Well my TSI's arrived and while I am waiting to get an aftermarket intake I am thinking about relocating the snorkel to my air box closer to the TSI. Has anyone done this and make it look clean? Pictures?
Not if you do a the Spec Miata trick like I did! lol When the headlight pod is down, push the back of it down a but and if you have to, pull the part of the hood behind it up a little. This of course requires the removal of that little plastic flap on the underside of the hood that sits right behind the pod. I'm not talking extreme panel gap but just enough to force some air in there at speed. Like so...
I'm sure if you do a DYI racing beat type intake you can place it behind the headlight and get a headlight lid with some sort of vent/duct to get more air to the filter.
I doubt you'll notice much of a difference anyway. If you have 90-93 removing the AFM and replacing it with a IAT sensor will net bigger gains than a intake snorkel relocation.

Remove the AFM and replace with a Intake Air Temperature sensor? Umm, that won't work. *IF* you have a MS, you *could* delete the AFM and go MAP...but the only way to ditch the AFM is with an aftermarket ECU.
As for the OP's question- Just get some ducting and run it from behind the headlight to the snorkel. But know that the OEM intake setup is kinda restrictive and you'd be much better off with something like the RB intake and a isolation/cold-air box.
i can tell you that i took out my box and used a flex hose to put a cone filter in the back back corner of the engine bay ( right in front of the driving) and the turbulant air seems to make a nice rumble when you get into the throttle
How does this do anything? If you just wanted the sound, you could stick the cone filter on the end without the flex hose. Plus, what year is your car? I assume you don't have an NA, since they don't have much farther back to go when you stick the cone filter on.
