Finnally finished my cai for the car. Had the duct work done for a while but just finished the heat shield. Don't know if it helps much but was fun to build and kept me busy while off from work.
Being winter here in NY and the car stored waiting for spring haven't had a chance to drive it. It sounds good but won't really know until I can drive it on the open road a really hear it run.
I thought about openning up the airbox and may still do that but wanted to get the runner done first. Won't be hard to make changes now and make a better connection at the airbox.
Nice job man!
Any cold air you can add will help, also the inlet is in a relative high pressure area, this will help too! I'm pretty sure it will improve your Miata performance.
Congratz!
Is it fiberglass? Did you used a foam moldless construction system?
I took styrofoam and sanded it into shape then covered it with fiberglass then a coat of bedliner for some more protection and to make it black. The beadliner should help some with heat also along with the heat shield I added to it. Even if it doesn't add much or any hp the cooler air can't hurt the engine any.
Sorry no pics on the heat shield build. Was doing a couple of small items when I decided to make the heat shield so I didn't go get the camera just started to build. No real plans ahead of time just designed and built on the go.
Wonder if some road sign material would be sufficient to use...
