Default NC'er Exhaust- Whats up.

Trying to get feedback on ehausts for the NC on the "big board" is effin ridiculous.

What run you?

What is the % increase in volume over stock? Type of sound, buzzy, boomy, farty?

Brian Goodwin has three models out now, then there are RB, Borla, Magnaflow etc.

Some of those the old fogies on the big board think stock is too loud, let alone aftermarket....so it is really hard to get a real impression of that the dilly is with them.

I drive my car everyday and have to make visits to clients so I can't sound buzzy/ricey AT ALL, but I want something 'throatier'.

Ideas?

Don't know about for the NC's but I love my Borla. I'd be willing to guess that it's even deeper sounding than the NB's.

I had a muffler shop cut the resonator out of my mid pipe and it barely changed the sound. It's better but don't let the people on Miata.net convince you that it's a substitute for an exhaust.

I like the roadster sport race exhaust, but I think the dual tips just look right on the NC.

The Mazdaspeed exhaust sounds pretty good too.

From mnet, the guys on there think the MS exhaust is way too loud.

I agree, the Roadster Race (7 pounds!) looks like the one to get, but I agree with you, it just won't look right.

I might be one of the first to just the new 'Roadster Q'. That or the RB, but the RB is heavier than stock, not that a couple pounds is gonna make a big diff, but for the same price, why not go lighter with the Q.

All the reports of the RB are thumbs up to a nice throaty tone they are famous for. I just can't be seen/heard pulling to see clients sounding like a ricer.

I had a Borla on my NA and fricken loved it.

Don't let the M net guys scare you away from a "loud" exhaust. They have very sensitive ears.

I doubt the Mazdaspeed exhaust is overly loud. Check out the all the video clips on Video Google and You Tube. It's hard to figure out how loud anything is, but you can get an idea of what the tone will be like.

I wouldn't mind making a custom exhaust like this for the NC:

Just have a muffler shop make a Y-pipe off of the stock mid-pipe with 2 short Magnaflow resonators and 2 tips. Kind of a double roadster sport race.

BTW, the Borla sounds great on the NA.

Thats the style that the autoexe is I think, the dual can approach.

It would be cool, wouldn't be too hard to fab it up or have a shop do it....

That thing is like a grand isn't it? The autoexe is like $800.

The Tanabe Ultra Medallion is around $1000 with the axle back section being full Ti. The mid-pipe is stainless.

Ouch, $1G is pretty steep, but you can't expect to get Ti at a bargain price. Give it some more time and I bet they'll start popping up.

It sounds really good! Creates a bit of a drone in the car with the top up, but sounds great outside.

A bit of drones ass, it'll run out after 10-15min in slow cruising traffic. But it does sound pretty good.

I'm sorry but I just laughed, because I agreed with your statement then though, wait a minute, old people usually DON'T hear all that well.
And milkman, I've never seen anybody paint their tips black. Interesting, I like.

I was at a dyno day at a mustang shop, and the guys there were working on a Lincoln Mark VIII or some other kind of land yacht, and the old guy that got the exhaust put in (nice dual-exhaust setup, with awesome chrome tips) didn't want the tips to be stainless... so he made the guy spray paint them black...

Weird.

If anyone else is interested in a Dolphin Tail or anything from RE Amemiya, tell me now or you have to wait till my next trip to Japan.

I will be in Japan soon and I can go to RE-A a pick up almost anything. They are in Chiba which is right next to Narita INTL, so I can cruise by to the shop before my flight, or when I land. I will also be in Tokyo and could pick up some nick nacks from local shops if anyone wants anything in particular.

Here are the first shots of my ghetto retro fit tip swap.

I had a muffler shop chop off the "beer can on a pipe" stock tips and weld on these puppies.

Magnaflow 3.5" double walled stainless tips.

Yes, they turn the dual system into a single canister. It is a rear section only. Not bad for the price to be honest. But I haven't heard it yet for myself.

How does it look? Does it look like the single canister exhaust they have for the S2000? Do you have a picture?

Yes, its like the s2k system, the exhaust will only exit through one side. I don't know which side it exits from, I don't remember... you can call them and ask.

They should have a picture of it on the Greddy site, but maybe its not posted yet.
