Tell me something we don't know...the header is MAYBE 3 years old at most...and has about 15k miles on it.
So today it broke...I'm on the freeway and then the car got really loud....I gunned it and knew it was before the cat. The stupid header broke at the welds the whole way around the flange by the cat.

So all those busted racing beat/jackson headers I hear about must be shit too then.
It was less than $100 bucks, and you got 3 years out of it. Sounds like an OK deal to me... You could buy another, and still be at half the price of a racing beat. |

Palmer has a point. But I will add that a Nismo header for the QR25DE costs 225 bucks and lasts a lifetime. Guaranteed. (just a personal account of a quality part) So you could own two raceland headers for six years theoretically, or buy a quality part for the same price and rejoyce as you celebrate its 15th year on your Miata.

Ya if I get another header it will have a flex section
I didn't take pics of the 3 out of 4 cracks up by the flange that bolts to the motor either I'm leaning toward a Fuji anyway...The only reason I never put a flex pipe in this was I never felt the power gain was very significant. It was a tiny bit peppier on the top end but that's it. As for the price...I got it for a steal (bought it with a borla cat back for $200 and sold the Borla for $250) I'm eyeballing the old HKS in a thread I posted in this week now actually...and a $75 Bosal. At least I KNOW the Bosal makes more power |

^^I disagree. I owned a first generation JR 1.6 header. The Raceland was a superior piece. JR did not bother to smooth out port entries. Both have similar looking mig welds. Better 02 placement on the Raceland. Upon glance I prefer the raceland. I normally do not defend cheap stuff. Amoung the cheap 4-2-1 headers its not that bad.
However JR did improve their manifolds which I do not have experience with. Here is the 1st gen JR header. Sorry dont have a pic of primary ports. ![]() Raceland

You are missing the point. Raceland headers are $117 to your door. You sometimes get what you pay for. In this case, $117 for 3 years of use (hard use based on his screen name) seems like a pretty good (and more importantly realistic) deal to me considering the cost. Buy all means, go buy a $400 header. I'll just buy another raceland when it breaks. |

I believe someone already mentioned the issue.
Flex pipe. The vibrations / heat is causing welds to fail. You want to know something? This happens to the turbo guys too. Look at how the "serious" guys are cracking manifolds, backing out studs, and etc. with high-heat, high-vibration, high-load type of driving. You paid $117 shipped for a header with no flex pipe. It was bound to break one day. I surprised you got 3 years out of it. You can either fix that weld for $20-$30 or invest some money on a serious header setup - which I wouldn't see necessary unless you're in a specific class of racing that doesn't allow FI and need to squeeze out every HP with your current exhaust setup. Good luck on your efforts! |

I was just confirming it's no nicer than the price
SO I'll weld a flex pipe and bring my investment up to $0 |

It's not a bad piece, just like sportmaxx/XXR's
If mine cracks or splits, I'll just weld it back up and add a flex section. I bought the header with future ideas in mind, so I took the chance for the cheap price. It's not a safety item, so I don't know why people are getting so bent out of shape over it. |

Hey, I'm not trying to start a flamewar or anything, but I think it's an honest question.
I'm happy with what I got out of mine for $117. Are people saying that the $300 difference is noticeable? I don't think so. Now, keep in mind this only had to do with raceland headers, not anything else that they sell... |

I know, but sometimes the most simple questions usually result in a shitstorm and dyno charts when comparing HP items

My 400 dollar headers were free. They are ceramic coated and they fit under the JR supercharger. IDK if racelands do, i don't think that they do.
Idk about hp numbers, there isnt much gain from them anyways. I just hate that one company pays x dollars for research/development then charges a fair rate for the time and work that went into a product. Then company B grabs said product copies it, manufactures it in BFE and sells it for less(reflecting NO r&d and said drop in quality). Meanwhile, company A, the R&D forward, quality company struggles to stay in business cause noone buys their product because 80% of tuners are broke ass ricers. I don't really care, thats just how i feel about the industry. |

Thanks for the post up. Good to have long-term review. I almost bought these just for shits and giggles.
