Default Modified racing exhaust question

Wasnt sure if anyone knows why or what exhaust systems these are, but Ive been seeing alot of exhausts on the Japanese track cars where the exhaust looks like an Apex N1 but the tip seems to be angled down? Is it to keep the sound levels down or something? For example, here....

and here....

Pics are from the recent tsukuba thread.

Its about the look as well as exhaust flow.

The exhaust sound also gets muffled from hitting the ground.

Might keep sound levels lower, as some tracks require your car to be under a certain DB level
