If you do just end up cutting the muffler off, make sure you get a pipe welded in so it exits out the back. My car has about an inch deep of black shit underneath the car on everything from the axle back.

Sell your car on CL and buy a baddass exhaust setup with the proceeds from the sale.

^ Yup thats why you get a straight pipe axleback. Prevent exhaust heat/soot from clobbering the rear bumper and surrounding components.

*A buddy Club Spec II style tip would look dope, or if BC has a Miata application then there you go.
*For those who are unaware, the Spec II is not a muffler. Its simply a piece of pipe for "race applications".

Don't screw with the cat. It's expensive and you'll need it to pass emissions. I found this SR-S N1 on ebay for $184 shipped:

With all due respect to all the other contributors, don't fck with your exhaust by cutting or mangling it. It'll sound like sh!t and look worse. Also, good luck finding a muffler shop to make u a custom exhaust for $150. Around Atlanta they want $250 just to make a midpipe . My guess is that a muffler shop will charge you somewhere between $350 ~$500 to make something that you might not even like... Just look at the available aftermarket exhausts and double the ebay price, that will give you an idea of what a shop will charge to make it from scratch.

My suggestion is to listen in youtube to all the exhausts you can find in Miatas, choose the one you like best, buy it and either install it yourself of get a shop to install it for you (it will cost you).

I had a enthuza metalcore cat on my corksport exhaust and i can't tell you how many cops came after me with that exhaust on my car. haha. I could be driving past a cop that had someone pulled over and he would stop what he was doing to watch me drive past. lol

yup, i have a 200cell metal cat, a 4-2-1 jackson racing header and the corksport drift exhaust. the sound is awesome, but at full throttle it's realy loud as fu... and in a tunnel everybody infront steps on the brakes when i drive in, even the guys way in front, i don't wanna know how it sounds behind me.

Save money until you have enough to properly modify. Or buy honda, ruin honda instead. Spare the miata.

They're gay anyways, won't get bitches, get called cute too much, and don't have vtech.

For you. <3

I have something simliar to this on my boosted Integra. When I'm on throttle, it sounds like a scarab race boat.

I want something similiar made for my Miata.
