I have a nice polished, resonated one for a 1.8 I'll let go for 50 bucks. I can send a pic if desired when I get home tonight.

I know this is a stupid question but kindly humor me. Test pipe replaces the Cat, correct? Must you have one custom for your year & emissions (CA or Federal). Also would like to know if you gain any performance or gas mileage.

I have a nice 2.5" resonated one left over from my civic build. If the flanges are similar, I might cut mine and weld some new flanges on for the miata.
With turbo especially you can really pick up some gains by switching to a test pipe. I'm not sure about any NA gains though. |

One benefit of straight pipes is that they help reduce droning in the cabin

I still say that the whole crushing thing will just result in more people running from the police there. Anyway, back on topic. I had a test pipe made at a local muffler shop for $25, just two flanges and a piece of straight pipe. |

Also, depending on your setup you can actually lose hp. One of my friends decided to run one at a track day to see what difference it made, and he was slower than with a regular cat!
So unless you're boosted or have some decent power mods, I wouldn't really bother with one. |
