Default Autokonexion Aero Fenders

Latest Update photos on AK Aero Fenders, sorry for the delay... we want to make sure that product fitment is as close as possible to OEM fitment.

We are continuously innovating parts for this community, setting a trend is our priority. Our main goal this year is to produce parts that can work with existing Autokonexion products and other companies products. http://shop.autokonexion.com/product...&categoryId=24

As much as i want to get away from those add-ons, It will defeat the purpose of opening the rear area of the fenders. It is more ideal to cover most of the frontal area of the tire rather than expose it by stretching the bumper just to line up with the fenders. I do agree with you about looking better without those add-ons but, most racers might dis-agree. We designed this fender to accommodate wider tire set-up than stretched tires. We will be coming out with a bumper like mentioned above in the future for guys that do not like the add-ons.

Thanks,
Mike

By all means, please tell us how you would extend a fender that far and somehow make the front bumper "fit" to it.

I don't know, that's not my job. I'm just saying, the original pictures didn't include that. I was expecting a completely oem looking piece. I'm not bashing it by any means, I think it looks good, just not something I would put on my current miata.

I think you are mistaken. Bumper caps have been apart of this deal since he started dropping pictures. There is always that other fender that looks to be catered to the stretch slam crowd.

Fender looks great! Can't wait to see the bumper that comes out made for it.

Looks really nice with the gt bumper too. Granted, I like the way that bumper looks anyways. I'd own one if I knew I wouldn't destroy it in a week. I encounter way to many gnarly speed bumps amd my drive way sucks.

I cannot wait for the Kevlar version of these to be ready. I notice you say they fit with 6ULs. Is that with the 1/4" spacer you need for proper fitment with 275s? My spinwerks are being made so that I will not be rubbing the hoosier on the upper shock mount, which is a problem with 6ULs without the spacer (why emillio why). Do note that anyone running these tires will be running ~3* of camber.

It looks like they match up well with the bumper. Any chance of a bumper/fender combo setup to be sold? All in the interest of getting more weight off the nose.

Also, a bumper designed for these that pushes the nose out more, so that the cars these bumpers are designed for can run bigger splitters. And with integrated canards with 1.2 sqft of total area (defined as length times chord length) aka 0.6 sqft/side would be excellent, especially if they are VERY cambered and aggressive. Cannot stick out wider than the the widest part of the bumper, can stick no more than 6 inches forward of the bumper. Or just some convenient mounting pads for such animals. I have a vested interest in this and CFD capabilities.

I have been drooling over body kits! I want to do a car with the kind of tires the LS power plant deserves but cant bring myself to alter Nadine.
I have a really nice shell sitting next to the house and could begin over again but also have ideas of a 6.0L supercharged Exocet rolling around in my head. Hmmmmm......keep the pics comming!

Leafy, on his blog he has stated that there was a bumper in the works, of I remember correctly, something about integrated headlights as well? Can't wait to see it and for more info!

Im sorry for a very late reply...We've been really busy with all the deadlines and back orders.
I'm not using any spacers for the 15x10 6ul's with +25 offset. Tires are 275/35/15 hoosiers and I don't see any rubbing issue on the perch like you mentioned. I will take a picture when I get a chance with the front bumper off so, we can see it clearly. I do not know how much camber I'm running because it was fitted on the car i use for prototype.

The bumper was from our GT widebody kit, with very minor modification done but, we are working on a different bumper to work with this fenders. (Thanks Ono1 ! for info). It will have a more closed front with an optional splitter and canards but, this might not be for an everyday street car. (We will try to design a more subtle splitter later for street version). The rest of the bottom after the splitter is up to the buyer to complete. We do not have a bolt on flat bottom available (Not yet!).

I hope this answers some of your questions...

Thanks,
Mike Burlas

Kind of. If you raced the car with the 275s on 6ULs with no spacer you will notice a blue ring around the inner edge of the tire and delicious hoosier rubber stuck to the upper shock mount. Or you're not driving hard enough (or your bump stops are too long or you're not low enough.)

I installed the 15x10 949racing wheel with 275/35/15's and removed the fenders to get a better glimpse of this said area (picture to follow). Camber is -2.5. I still have about an inch of gap between the tires and the springs without the spacers. Then again, the car is not moving and maybe not low enough.

Tire and wheel do not hit the spring, never even get close (except maybe at steering full lock), they do hit the upper shock mount with both NB upper mounts and penske upper mounts. But thats not important, you only need an extra 1/4 of space and they clear. I've hit the NB mounts with 2.5* of camber and the csp car has hit the penske mounts with 3*. Those are the only combo's I have experience with. The Bogarts on the CSP car and the 949 + 1/4" spacer do not hit, both of those combos have the same effective offset.

What size are the wheels and tires on Tom's car?

Is that the carbon fiber layup? So you should be close to having the kevlar setup ready? Miata roadster Bill said mid summer, but earlier would certainly be nice.

Looking to get these soon, still amazed with the quality. I wonder (not to thread jack as I love both companies) how these will compare with the project-g fenders?

Looks awesome on the test fit!

Hey sorry for bringing this back up. Any update on when the raw kevlar version of these fenders will be ready? I finally have my 15x10 spinwerks with 275s. They're not clearing my rolled/pulled until the car started to rock off the jack stands rear fenders like the 15x9+275's did. The Large Rear Fender flares are looking good right now due to blocking the air hitting the rear tire without silly side skirts.

Any update on the bumper for the aero fenders? It'd be great for them to be offered in a kit with the bumper, fenders, and large rear flares.
