I've got a tan (leather) non probax Elise seat in my 95, I need to adjust it to suit me but just sitting inside it feels nice. Also has the inflatable lumbar support.. I kinda wish I held out for probax though..

I have Lotus Probax Trim Shop seats in black in my NA. Mine are design #9. From what I understand, they are an OEM option. I'm running flipside brackets. They seem to be OK. I like that they use the miata sliders so they are adjustable, but I wouldn't mind going lower with the RyokuRob ones.

link to a thread I found on the trim shop seats below:

http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f92/...t-ideas-34230/

and here they are in the car:

wow those look great! so how exactly does the trim shop work? i gather from Robert Puertas in the thread that

Quote:
It's the Lotus factory's own custom trim shop at Hethel.
do you need to provide seats or is the pricing on page 2 the price of the seat customized to your liking??

They also make a hans compatible one that came in the Lotus Cup cars: http://shop.britishracinggroup.com/E...-LOTEXV6CS.htm

Those would be outside the budget of Miata driver though

if anyone happens to know the material and color options by year of standard configuration, that'd save me a lot of trouble lol. i believe i've seen black, tan, red, cloth, leather, or a combination of the two, lots of work to get this thread more complete!

Going from memory, here are the Elise seat options. I might do an Exige seat option post later, if I feel sufficiently motivated

Padding styles: 05 has the inflatable bladder, 06+ is Probax. Probax seats will have a small label on the shoulder of the seat saying "ProBax." I highly recommend Probax seats as they are the most all day comfortable seats I've ever sat in.

Styles: Standard Elise seats and the Sport/Touring seats (note that these are basically Exige seats) are already highlighted above. I believe the Sport/Touring is only available for certain years, but I may be wrong. I definitely don't think they were available in 2005 as I think the seats with the harness cutouts are Probax only.

Trim: Standard trims are gray cloth, black leather, red leather, magnolia leather, and biscuit leather. I think the cloth seats are available in both full cloth and cloth for center insert only with the outside in black leather. Magnolia leather pictured below:

Special Editions:

California Edition:

Type 72D:

Purist Edition:

Jim Clark Edition:

60th Anniversary Edition:

Final Edition (full Alcantara):

Good luck getting your hands on any of the special edition seats. They are expensive and almost never come up for sale as they're worth more in the special edition Lotus than out of it.

Trim Shop: Lotus had a Trim Shop that would make seats (and the rest of the interior) in a variety of different options. Trim Shop seats tend to be unique to their owner's tastes. The Trim Shop has since closed.

Hope this proves useful. I may be missing some information as Lotus tends to change trims at the drop of a hat. If you have addition questions about Lotus seats, just let me know.

Great write up! Only other thing I'd add is that Elises also had red leather.

Oops. Missed that one. Thanks fellow Bay Area Lotus/Miata owner! I may know you in real life...

Tillett makes a racing seat that is shaped extremely similar to oem elise seats. The only issue is they don't come clothed, they just have little rubber-ish pads on them. They weigh 5kg of something like that.

Another option is the seats from the Tesla Roadster. I've been informed that Tesla changed materials, colors, and padding on an almost weekly basis so it's hard to organize them into specific categories. However, the mounting points of the seats seem to be the same as the Elise seat.

The Roadster seats have a bit less lateral support in the shoulder area, but are more aggressively bolstered in the rib area. The padding is Tesla specific; it's not a 2005 Elise seat with the bladder and it's not ProBax. It's got a bit more lumbar support (for better or worse) than the ProBax. The leather is higher quality than the leather used by Lotus.

LionZoo thanks so much for adding that info!

has anyone tried all the different seat brackets? i have chance91 which sit way too upright (and i like being very upright these are too much) and i have a ryokurob which is too reclined for my taste. i really like the look of the infinit brackets and like that they use the stock sliders, but it doesnt make sense if they angle is the same as either of the ones i already have..

I purchased an infinitfab one and it didn't work with my Exige seat. The bottom portion of the bracket is too wide and does not allow you to get the bolts on the front / bottom of the seat in. I'm not sure if there is any difference between elise and exige mounting points, I would assume there are none. However the bracket can probably be modified to work. I just didn't have the patience so I purchased a set from flipside customs.

I would be happy to sell it to you if you want to try and make it work.

Anybody selling brackets anymore? I followed all four links and they have all been quiet for a while. Ryoku Rob's inbox is full and won't accept messages.

I think your best bet is to find a local fab shop and have them make you a set of the Chance91 brackets. From looking at the design work, the Chance91 brackets actually seem to be the best thought up.

I ended up finding and ordering flipside customs brackets.
