I'm running a MOMO Monte Carlo dated 2/97. Grabbed it out of a Porsche 924 in a j-yard. Came with a MOMO hub too. Costs me $20 too. I had to use a Ebay hub as the original MOMO hub didn't work. I also put a 1'' spacer behind it. To top it off I did an Aisha horn button thing, if you have watched Outlaw Star you know what I'm talking about.

The steering wheel is your choice. I went with the inexpensive NRG wheel. Flat wheels are best if you dont want to have the wheel in your face. The only hubs I have found with the airbag resistor are the Splash hub ($153) and the RSpeed hub($124). You can get any number of other hubs, but most seem to have to be modified to pass the wires through. I was looking at the NRG slim hub, but couldnt really find much on it. I am pretty sure it doesnt have the resistor and has to be modified. The quick release is what I am concerned about. The NRG quick releases are all pretty good and most people use them without any problems. BUT... I am looking to get the SLIM quick release. I cant find any info on the NRG website about them, and the only place I have found to buy them is from a store on Ebay. This leads me to believe that they are probably knock-offs and wont be as good quality as the real thing. So... I am going with the FET quick release. It has been said that the NRG slim release is a copy of the FET. Its about 200 bucks so I dont know if I am going to be able to bring myself to pay that, but thats my choice for now. Short answer... PERSONAL wheel Splash or RSpeed Hub FET quick release |

To fix that- just remove the airbag computer and backup battery. |

I don't know about other year models, but on my 92 car, it most certain makes a nasty buzz nose every time you turn on the ignition if you yank the airbag light. To fix that- just remove the airbag computer and backup battery.[/quote] where is that located? |

Under the dash w. all the "smurf blue and orange" connectors on it.. You'll also notice all the wiring under the hood is bulky and similarly colored.. 3 sensors behind bumper.. yank it all!
I had a single bag system ('93) and I can tell you the entire box of ish weighs probably nearly 20lbs. |

how did you get that shift knob to fit? All i can find is 10x1.5 and the miata thread is 10x1.25. did you just cross thread it or is your shift rod different?

arg i really want that shift knob. I may just get it and see what i can do to get it to fit. What do you have under the hood of that thing? I thought the shifter rod looked taller.

![]() I'm not responsible though, the guy that did it has a write up on it here: http://freespace.virgin.net/bob.carter/Mazda_mx5_V8.htm I think they do them in a couple of different sized threads but I can't find it on their website, it was only £12 IIRC. Give them a call or email them, I have always found them very helpful. If you have a lathe you could probably make one easily enough. |

Ahh, pressed the 'submit' button and then found the page #-o They do them in 10mm and 12mm threads but if the Mazda one is an oddball you could probably push the Quaife insert out and put in your own, or re-cut the threads on the Mazda rod.

Where can I get horn buttons? Ebay has some but I'm not putting the Big H or TRD or Hello Kitty on my car. How about the Mazda Speed one? Is there some place that does custom ones?

Well found out that my car was totaled in the accident today, mainly due to the airbag deployment and the insane cost of oem replacement parts.
I need to find some info to convince my dad that the airbags aren't really necessary on the car. I didn't even come close to hitting the airbag, all it did was cut and burn my forearms and the passenger side broke my windshield. I would like to get a sparco mugello as a replacement. Can anyone point me in the direction of some convincing literature to show that an airbag that old is just as dangerous as it is safe haha? |
