Ok so I did some searching through this thread but I would like some professional opinions. So I have the hard dog hard bar which is just the simple loop roll bar. Reason I bought it was because I have a very low budget and got it really really cheap. I want to get seats this summer and some racing harness both for daily use and track use. Question is would the bolt in harness bar be safe to use with my roll bar on and off the street with only say a four point harness? Safety is my number one priority of course.

if u care about safety get a volvo...

no but seriously, if you care about safety that much, you should probably try to get a beefier roll bar, the hard bar is just a well built 4point style bar imo. A 6point with a diagonal or 2 is gonna add ALOT of strength.

I just don't have the fund plus I like this bar for now. The safety concept is more about the seat belt and bolt in harness bar deal. Because I think a four point racing harness would be much safer than the standard belt especially because I have a aftermarket steering wheel.

I am no expert but is it feasible to weld in a couple more bars to it for strength?

FTFY.

BTW...I know two people personally who have survived rollovers with the Hard Bar. Is it the best? Heck no. It will survive a rollover, however.

the hard bar connects at the base of the seatbelt towers, and at the top right? so isn't that 4 point?

That doesn't really count as a 4-pt, IMHO.

Don't bother putting in a harness unless you are going to include an asm belt. 5/6pt camlock combined with a race seat or save some money and stick with the stock 3pt and factory seats.

I did mine while it was in the car. It was super easy. I just got 3 HUGE sheets of plastic and a roll of painters tape. I had NO issues with over spray. Cost me a few bucks to do on my own.

I went through about 1.5 cans. 4 coats. In the dark. One hand a can of plasti-dip. One hand a flashlight.

Still can't believe how well it turned out.

Well, got mine in over the weekend. Wife helped get it in and out a bunch of times as I cut and then cut some more metal. Would have been great to have had a second set of hands for the project, but oh well... grateful the wife was a good sport (and only gave me a couple dirty looks..)

A main hoop with bends in it? Seems legit.

I can't think of a design that is so involved from a production standpoint yet so bad from safety standpoint, not to mention completely illegal for any kind of HPDE, TT and W2W.

Wow.

It's a street car that will never see competetion. The downs are getting changed though. I'm all ears for how "un safe" it is too. It will see lapping days and maybe the occasional drift day. There is no bar anybody has done (that I have ever witnessed) that has this much headroom. Sorry its no cookie cutter

Doesn't have to be a competition scenario to warrant a proper rollbar.

Like I said, please tell me what "proper" is. Not being confrontational. I'm always open to constructive criticism. If you're going to do it, at least explain yourself though.
