Re: roll bar thread?

No worries,

There's a lot of good info on the manufactures websites that will specifically say if they'll work w/soft/HT etc.

http://www.bossfrog.biz/ <<<are semi-local 2 hr drive to pick up,

http://www.bethania-garage.com/ I've spent some good time reading through both, i think i'm going BF

Still on the fence about what bar I want. It's a tie between the M1 HDHCHT and the Clearview. I like the fact the HD lets me use my ht side latches.

I had a hardtop over my clearview and didn't see any issues with fitment on the sides. With that said I would still go HDHC if I had to do it again. Order one up man!

Re: roll bar thread?

I'd like to compare visibility between the HD and the BF before I pull the trigger. I'd rather not have a cross bar in the middle of my rearview blocking my view. If you do decide to order a new one I'll buy the BF off you.

Visibility really isn't an issue with either one. I plan on keeping my BF its really not a bad piece and I got a harness bar for it recently. I just thought the install went a bit smoother for the HD.

Re: roll bar thread?

Can Anyone with a Hardcore Bar comment on how badly if hinders seat movement or seatbelt operation?
No on seatbelt operation. As I recall, my belts worked, for the most part, just fine. As for seat movement, here are some pics in my old car (click on them for larger versions):

Here's the worst one. You can see where the bar fit on my old Axis Power Racing seat. Yes, the seat was in full contact with the bar at all times if I wanted to get the seat far enough back!. You always played a compromise between seat recline and rear travel.

That said, the head clearance with that seat/bar combo was pretty awesome (for the record, I'm 6'1" with a 34" inseam):

Re: roll bar thread?

Ok one more question for the HD guys. Would I have to cut my side panels to fit the bar or does it fit behind them? Since I'd go with the HT version I didn't think I would but I'd like to make sure before I hack them to pieces to get it to fit.

Re: roll bar thread?

Some people would call it that. Of course i guess it depends on your height and how you tilt the seat. What you cant see is my seat has the foamectomy done to it . I'm rather big for this car at 6"3. If i sit normally the back of my head hits the seat not the bar. Thats not to say in a crash i'm not going to smack my noggin.I probably will thats why i installed the padding. I do play at speed and i'm more scared of someone else running me off the road (so far twice with this car). Who knows what will happen once you leave the road. I thought about this for several months and I'm satisfied with my choice. If i tilt the upper seat forward 1 notch i'm not even close at that point.
If by dangerous you were talking about the passenger seat position i just put it back all the way to show how far it could move. Nobody that rides in the car has ever rode in that position. As far as the drivers seat goes it always there if i'm driving it.

and in the end, i'd much rather smack my head and have a sore head than a broken neck and crushed face because my car rolled over.

Re: roll bar thread?

sorry about the off-topic, but are there any reasons why there arent any roll-bars that go back to the top of the rear suspension? is it just too difficult to make or pointless because it doesn't make it more rigid than the other roll-bars. contemplating getting the hard dog hard bar ( just the main hoop) and then adding the bars going to the rear suspension. but if its a waste of time then ill forget about it.
I just removed a basic Hard Bar, then installed a Hard Bar Sport DD with harness bar. The car drives better and is MUCH firmer with the added rear supports (harness bar/diagonals too). They bolt down right in front of the rear shocks. I got the M1 Sport, made for NA's. The M2 Sport, for NB's, has rear supports that attach further from the rear shocks to fit NB glass windows. Rear supports that bolt down closer to the rear shocks will be a bonus, from my experience.

Re: roll bar thread?

I've seen spec cages run into the trunk. However for a street driven car you would most definitely half to delete the soft top and the you'd need a custom bar made as I don't believe anyone offers one.

Re: roll bar thread?

Im having such a hard time deciding on the HardDog Ace or the Bossfrog Clearview ... The clearview looks awesome/better than the Ace ... but the quality and the amount of room the Ace gives seems more practical.

:(

Why not go Hard Dog Sport or Hardcore Hard top? Both offer good clearance and IMO are the best looking w/ Double Diagonals. I just got a Sport for my car. The Hard Core hard top offers the same placement as the sport but with thicker tubing.

The Boss Frog is more expensive with no more benefits than the Hard Dog models.
