Headrest padding is 2" in the center and 3" on a side and has a curved shape. This is a lot better than some of the stock headrest (especially than an OEM miata one). I think 2-3" of padding on this seat is better than SFI crush type padding on the rollbar, which probably requires enough force for light concussion before it starts to collapse.

Andy - there is a small curve on the front of the roll-bar, right behind shoulders. This is what makes is it a MAX version - it leans back. When i called Boss Frog, they told me that absolute high for installed bars is the same for both, but one is angled back.

I have 2. You are welcome to try them sometime. I love them. My girlfriend says they are some of the most comfortable seats she has sat in. She sleep in them every road trip we do.

OMG I'm so close on pulling the trigger on a roll bar but I'm just too concerned with how close they are to your head in these little cars. But I guess they are safer in a big crash no matter how you look at it as long as you have the padding. We need a poll, roll bar in a DD or not haha.

Hey blackbird thanks for posting that link. I have a friend here who has one of those hard dog hard bars that are just the main loop with no rear supports or cross sections so I am going to sit in his car and see how I feel about that bar around my head. The only way I'm going to settle this is to sit a car with a bar and judge for myself.

So I just settled on ordering the Deuce bar like a few of you recommended for the taller of us roadster drivers who hit every other bar. A friend of mine had an NA with the hard bar in it and that mounts at about the same point as the deuce and i was able to sit in that car the other day and I should be just fine.

My question now is has anybody ever seen a deuce bar with the vinyl or leather cover and padding that hard dog sells? I can't seem to find a single picture of someone running a deuce with the padding and cover and I'm not about to buy it for 145 when I have never seen it before. Anybody got pictures?

I kind of get the logic, my bars are a bit lower than the Hard Dog / Blackbird Fabworx ones, but they are also a lot further back. So on the plus side, there is much less possibility you'll hit it in a crash, but on the minus side, it is not as tall as some other bars.

The moral of the story is, not all bars suit all people. You need to try a few and see what suits you and your needs.

Edit - for the record, I dropped the floor to get myself further away from my cage ... really don't understand how some people seem comfortable with the idea of their head twanging off a metal bar, padding or no padding!

Russell.

Haha, yeah.. I guess i've been lucky with the yellow tow hook being so small that people don't mention that reference.

I don't have a hoop bar so i may be able to get away with it, but hard to get colors to go with red without clashing. Probably just play it safe and keep it black. Kind of wanted to have the same " effect " as how the GT3 RS does with their color matched/off-setting cage colors that they have.
