is there a roll bar thread in this forum? I've searched but did find one. please post your roll bar. thanksZ. does anyone have pictures of bsp roll bars?
just gotta keep the seatback a couple inches in front of the bar (even if it's padded). My roommate is 6'2" and he does ok in the passenger seat.. of course the seatback is pretty much straight up but it works.
I had no idea the ace was that narrow! that's crazy. I would think the mounting feet would be sitting atop the petrol tank? I'm pretty sure the mounting plates were about as narrow as they could fit in the wheel wells on the hardcore when I installed it.

AO kind of has it right, except the Pro crowd basically resorted to posting the same pictures of people injured or killed, while the Anti crowd posted crash data and (unfortunately) one of them in particular kept posting long posts of one paragraph each that I couldn't be bothered to read...
That mounts a lot like an ACE, and its going to be narrow. Says its 32"... that IS narrow. Also, doesn't say what the diameter tubing is or the wall thickness. Could be cheap, idk.
Ok... I looked at every picture here and I wonder If you guys will take pictures of you in the car with the bars from the side. I'm 6' tall and I would like to get a bar that will let me tilt the stock seats all the way back and still have head room. I have the head rest speakers kind of seats in my 91 and my head is half out of the head rest. Proportionally from most of the pics here I don't know which bar to get. They all look to me they rub the top of the seat and most of you just took pictures from the back.
Thanks a bunch.
Sorry, that's not happening --at least not safely.
here's a pic anyway. The seat isn't all the way back at all, and to be fair my seats are a lot taller than NA seats
it can be leaned back all the way, but if you're that tall you're going to be banging your head on the roll bar. Really, if the seat is leaned back any farther than in my pic, you're going to smack your head on the roll bar if you get rear-ended.
I believe Boss Frog only offers the bolt in one. HardDog Hard Core bars come with them welded in.. at least for M1 bars. However, the bolt in bar is extremely sturdy.
You should give Tom at Bethania Garage (makers of the Hard Dog bars) a call. He'll help you out with your options. Of course, you could always just go to the website and see what your options are
My Boss Frog was a pain to install. Seat belt tower bolts didn't seem to line up. Made for a very long project for my unexperienced self at 16 yrs old, but it is a great looking bar and has served its purpose. Since then I've installed 2 HDHC bars for friends and that is the way I'd go if I had to do it again..
I don't think there is, if any, difference in height between a clearview and a HDHCHT. The soft top only version of the HD should be taller. For max clearance look into autopower roll bar I think. Though, it will not allow a hardtop.
I recently sold my Hard dog M2 sport no diagonals and picked up a CSC racing 4 point double diagonal roll bar. I also installed a 4th brake light on the roll bar, the LED array is made by Radiantz and is very bright and very compact, it is very annoying to those pesky SUV drivers as it sits so high and is so bright especially when the pull up to a foot from my rear bumper!!!!
I am sure some of you have never hear of CSC racing, it a a Canadian company that build chassis, roll bars and roll cages and much more http://www.cscracing.com/
I have a NA with a later factory canvas top. No zipper rear window, defroster glass etc...will this top work with either the Boss Frog clearview or the M2 Hard Dog Hard Core?
Next question, this top is starting to show it's age, what Robbins glass window canvas top will work with which bar? Is the window larger on the glass zipper window top? Which bar works with the Robbins zip down glass window top?

Did a HD Sport DD this weekend. Took about 8 hours from start to finish, which included a lunch break and trip to Home Depot to get a 13" drill bit.
Nothing new and exciting to report, but just want to reaffirm what other people have said in this thread and others:
If you are thinking of installing one, I really recommend a second person. It makes it way easier, not just for the placing of the bar but for everything.
Also be sure to take out your seats. I have no clue why Bethania doesn't say this in the instructions (Does Boss Frog?), but I can't imagine what a pain it would be to do this with the seats in.
Finally, I'd also say WOW to how much more solid the car feels and also BOO to the seat belts not really retracting without feeding them.
I got the boss frog adapters for my seatbelts and they work sooo much better now. You barely need to guide them, and they don't get stuck at all. I have a Hard Dog Hardcore hardtop, which from what Bethania Garage says in their instructions has the same geometry as the bar you installed.

I'm not quite sure why Bethania Garage doesn't offer a similar product. It's a major safety issue with their product. Their instructions mention trimming the stock piece so that it can get at a better angle but I did a whole lot of that and it still had major issues.
A simple thing like the seatbelt not retracting fully if say you lean forward to grab something out of the glovebox with your seatbelt on could spell disaster in an accident.
yeah they bolted right on no problem and work as advertised.
On a scale of 0-9 where 0 is "belt is incapable of retracting no matter what, it's a fixed belt" and 9 is OEM, post roll bar install was a 1 and post BF adapters it's a 7 or 8.
I can only really comment on the Hard Dog Hardcore Hard Top though, the geometry on others might be different enough that it doesn't such so hard after installation.

They are the same dimensions aside from the tubing diameter. I'll look into those Boss Frog seatbelt guides. How tough was the install?
