Default Custom fab roll bar and cage

Friend's shop is putting in a custom roll bar for my friend and can also make custom roll cages.
What color should he paint it?

Thoughts?

He's got black rims. I was thinking it could look good in red as well.

BTW, I have a local shop here that can do custom cages for me...actually I'm thinking I'll DIY it. Shipping stuff over here is too expensive and I'm also keen to see whether I can come up with something better than most I see around - one big flaw of most Miata roll bars seems to be that the side hoops end up being right beside your head, which is NOT where you want them.

So I'm looking at doing something that's mounted a little farther back which won't split my head open like a watermelon in the event of an impact.

Another thing I'm looking to do is fab it so that I'll be able to weld/bolt it to the seatbelt carriers so the the bar would add more structural rigidity than a typical bot on setup.

A link to a build thread of that cage would be useful if there is one! Looks like a very nicely done cage...and the mounting points for the main hoop are very interesting too - most bars seem to mount the main hoop right to the chassis directly under the parcel shelf but looks like that one reaches much farther down.

The reason for this is because of the physical constraints of the factory hard and soft tops and the desire to have the bar as high as possible above the driver's head. It is a compromise. If you want to keep the factory top the main hoop can have more height the more forward it is and less height the further back. The location of the main roll hoop generally isn't a safety concern if you're using real racing seats with tall headrests that would limit opportunity for contact and the situation is improved even further if you're using real racing harnesses, helmet, and HANS device.
