Default Since were talking bout seats, Corbeaus?

So who's gottem and what do you think? Im thinking about getting a FX1 Pro for me and a A4 for the pass side. Im not worried about fittment because im 5'9 and only 125 (oh, hush your just jelous). Ive looked at FM's seat guide and they say that the optimal seat dimentions are 19.5 inches base width and 21 inches and the Corbeau is 20 in base by 22.5 shoulder. Would that still fit? Im not so worried about mounting becasue ive heard that the sliders they manufacture are compatable. Im wondering I havent seen anyone try to fit a FX1 pro into a NA. Why is that? Anyone sat in one and know how comfortable it is? Im young and can deal with some uncomfortablity but i dont want to take 4 hr trips sitting on a rock. Im also wondering about FIA approval with the Corbeau's. I dont do much track racing but maybe an AutoX every now and again. Im mostly worried how they will hold up in an impact on the street.

Or should i just save up for an axispowerracing. But then I would only have one....

Im running Corbeau Forza's in the daily miata. Im 5'9, 130 pounds. They fit well, they do rub on the door a bit, but no complaints here. I can take pictures if you want.

I purchased the Corbeau Forza(as i am a 36-38"waist) seat in the summer because the factory seat was getting worn and the shape of the seat was killing my back between the shoulders. The seat is sooo much more comfortable than the stock ones and really holds me in place on the track and autocross course. I also ordered the miata sliding bracket and it bolted into place with no problems in about 5 min. It does make entry/exit a bit more difficult but not enough to make me remove it.

i'm about 5' 11", 145lbs, another skinny kid, but it seems that these corbeaus fit a wide range of body types. I fit very comfortably into a sparco speed, are the corbeaus comparable, to those that have tried both??

coincidentaly i found and one of craiglists today, used only once with the mounting brackets and sliders for $175. Only problem is i can get three bolts in without an issue but the fourth one is just baaaaarrly off. I think its the bolts threads that are stripped from taking them out so many times. Do you think its safe to drive on only 3 bolts til i can get a new one?

question for you JDMAflac, it seems like my seat doesnt slide too far forward becasue the right bolster hits the trans tunnel and it doesnt slide all the way back becasue of the side latches on the Ht. do you have the same problem?

NO! Go get a tap set and either clean up the threads or enlarge and re-tap the hole!!

Good deal on a Forza... congrats.

Don't know how off it is, but usually I have someone sitting in the seat so that the bracket is flush to the mounting points and is somewhat easier to bolt in.

Your correct, it doesnt slide forward too much but im not too short and it does slide back but my roll bar is in the way. It's perfect for me though.

a little late in the game, but if you're skinny like me (6' 145lbs) a buddy club standard is quite nice, and very well priced.

and then you can get a matching wide for the passenger, or leave the passenger stock like i did.

FIA states:
As these seats can no longer be considered to comply with the standard FIA 8855-1999,
their use is prohibited in all cases in which compliance with the above-mentioned standards is mandatory

n00bs...this is the way to bring a topic back from the dead. follow this RooKiE's example!

so, this thread started with an idea of getting the Corbeau FX1 Pro...what happened to it? any pix? how does it fit? what rail configuration did you go with and why? do you sit higher than stock? Corbeau has a Miata specific rail...anyone have experiences with their rails?

i'm not looking for an FIA approved seat as my NA is my daily driver. just want something that can hold me in that's NOT tube and that WON'T break the bank...my other car makes me cry with all the money i dump into her, i don't need two of them! thanks in advance.

I plan to get an FX1 pro as well. I'm 5'7" 140'ish so it seem spot on. They appear to be good and light as well.
These guys seem to have the best deal from what I've found. Can anyone else find a better deal on these, please let us know.

www.racing-seats-usa.com has free shipping if you buy 2 seats, and is the same price per seat as apexperformance.net. I am looking for seats myself and have narrowed it down to an FX1 Wide(if it will fit) or an Ultrashield spec miata 17 or 18".

fx1 shoulders are 24inches from what i see... and at 22 forza rubs and even made an indent to the side door.

I have had a forza for about a year. Its decent for the price.

If you mount it using the corbeau slider it actually raises the seating position nearly an inch from what I could tell. BTW I had the same issue as That7Guy, I could only get 3 of the seat bolts in, the holes in the slider are just a little bit off.

The front thigh bolster is pretty stiff, sort of uncomfortable on long trips, but boston813 took his seat apart and cut out the spring inside and I found his seat to be MUCH more comfortable.

yes the shoulder wings touch the doors, and if slid all the way back the side trim will eventually poke a little hole in seat cover on the back of the wing.

After about a year of continuous use, daily driving, etc.... its starting to get more uncomfortable, I can feel the springs in the back of the seat when I sit in it.

So Im likely selling it. Im pretty pleased with the foamectomy on my stock seat and I got my headrest speakers back.

You can definately get a better seat for the same price as a new corbeau+slider, and just bolt it to the floor. You know you want to.

I have a clubman in my car occasionally on the corbeau brackets and sliders. The bracket does not fit anywhere near perfectly, but it gets the job done. Some fenagling, and all 4 bolts bolted down. The clubman looks about the same as the FX1, but without the shoulder wing things.
I like the way it feels, but it makes it near impossible to get in or out of the car. I need to get a removable steeringwheel, and mount the five point, then leave it in the car.
