Default DIY Door Card Thread

I want to make a database for "I made it myself" door cards. Post pictures, discuss how to procedures, what materials to use, what clips mount it with, differences in model year, problems you've come accross and final product photos.

I had planned to DIY my door cards, but I found a source for pre cut cards from ABS cheaper than the ABS sheet to cut my own.

No DIY here. Sorry.

I got them from Jim Marzita. I'd seen his name and email listed on an old thread either here or m.net one.

So I dropped him a line on the off chance he was still making them. He is!

His were originally intended to be door cards, with all of the holes necessary for mounting all of your stock hardware and covering in vinyl, but he was willing to delete all of the holes except the door handle, stock pull and the holes for mounting the door panel upper so I could use it for the outer card.

marajzita@gmail.com is the email I used to get him the first time.

Jim@mgisigns.com is where subsequent emails came from.

Tell him Brian sent you. I don't get anything, but I've always wanted to say that.

Basically I went to Walmart and found some fabric I liked. Spray glued them on, also on the crash pad, visor blanks, and center console door. I need to reglue the doors with something stronger, the glue I used last time wasnt strong enough for the heat here.

70 shipped for the pair.

Cheapest 48"x48" sheet I found was 90+ plus shipping. Then I'd need to cut them and not mess up.

I may be the only one with these particular cards.

At least on this thread.

I'll get them in this weekend and post pictures for you.

word, i did the fabric route, but i used the oem cardboard.
i'm not sure if that's what this thread is about though...
cause having an alternative to the cardboard would be great!

this fabric

spray adhered to quilt batting to make it a bit stronger/thicker

then adhered to the oem cardboard door card.

I bought a 4'x8' sheet of ABS at a local plastics supply company for $55. Most major cities will have some sort of businesses that sells stuff like that, you just have to dig a little to find it. I did cut my own cards, but that $70 shipped is a good deal considering you don't have to make multiple attempts to get a good set and develop your own pattern.

Home depot board, primered and painted metallic black and plastic rivets. Door pulls from an old back pack strap.

Chere ya go, a thread detailing how to do this back when I did mine in white.

DIY Colored door panels

Now I have deez door cards, because the whole black/white thing got too ricey for my tastes.

I have the 1990 door cards with seperate plastic speaker covers. In order to make this setup work I had to epoxy/superglue/duct tape the covers to the cardboard and let it sit overnight...then I laid down the diamond vinyl just like I showed in the thread above.

Also, Revlimiter/Adam has a how-to on his site. I didn't follow it because the procedure is pretty easy, but I have to give inspiration credit where credit is due
