Ok so my brakes were pretty shitty and needed all new pads and rotors...called around and most places didn't have **** in stock. Called 949 and they had just 1 BRK left in stock for the front, snagged that and the rear kit
Before:
stock rotors
what I think were OEM type replacement pads
brake fluid so old/used it was DARK brown
SS lines
After:
11" corrado rotors for the front
10.8" rear rotors off of the miata sport for the rear
Hawk HPS pads front and rear
Full fluid flush using castrol synthetic LMA brake fluid
SS lines
Installation was fairly straight forward only issues I ran into:
The front bracket adapters need to be trimmed on the edge that faces the ABS splines(will get a pic later....forgot to take one while I was doing everything.....only pics I actually took were some before and afters )
parking brake didn't seem to work hardly at all for the first 2 days(would engage very lightly even with the adjustment screw inside turned all the way up....turned it back to where it was since it didn;'t seem to do much) but this morning it worked perfectly fine....maybe new pads still bedding in?
First the fun stuff:
Felt like christmas:
Next the shocking old front brake pads....almost dwn to the backing plate :
Now the pics most of you have been waiting for:
Front before:
Front after:
JUST BARELY clears my wheels(15x6.5 45 offset.....don't worry soon willl be re-barelling hem going to 15x8 with a 20ish ofset )
Rear before:
Rear after:
Overall:
if you need new rotors and pads you seriously might as well get this setup if you can't afford the super baller wilwood kit. Braking @ low speeds in traffic doesn't seem that much different maybe a little bit harder bite than before but at anything above 45mph you notice it in direct relation to how hard you engage the pedal. did a couple 60-0 tests before and after(trying to start braking roughly the same point using as close to the same force possible) and now the car stops a good 30-40 feet quicker at least
As for the added weight I really don't notice any difference in the car feeling slower at all (think it adds about 5lbs per corner. IMO severly outweiged by the new benefits
