These Mounts went into my daily driven 1990 with no power steering or AC. It took about an hour for the motor mounts to go in and about 3 hours for the diff mounts, it could have been done alot faster but we didnt drop the exhaust.
These motor mounts arent for the faint of heart. The engine will never move it is absolutely rock solid. If your car had very little to no rattles before these go in it will after they do. Everyone said they are the roughest at idle, that is not the case it is almost like stock at idle. below 1000 rpm its like stock. between 1000 and 3000 its rough as ****, almost unbearable but only almost I have felt worse. Above 3000 the vibrations are noticable but not that bad.
The differental mounts are the best part. I had considerable wheel hop before they went in and after nothing the car feels more planted and more predictable now.
i've got the jellyfish delrin ones as well, also thinking of going hybrid. we'll see though. i had hasport mounts in my previous k20 civic and it wasn't bad at all, but this is pretty different.
Yeah I have a buddy with hasport mounts on his b16 ef. He told me had had aftermarket motor mounts. I honestly wouldn't have known had he told me. I have a sneaky suspicion these Drifting Jellyfish mounts will be like the mmr's if not wilder. I'm not sure what material the mmr's are made of.
I'll be comparing mine to mazdacomp units that I am swapping out next week.
Mr. Woolery is right. Go hybrid these mounts will get very annoying really quick. just drove the car 150 miles today and after about an hour of freeway speeds my hands and feet were numb, when i got home I was sore. The only time all vibration went away was at 120 mph.
ONE MORE THING with these mounts in they create more of a droon than any exhaust out on the market these things are going to make your car loud inside and i mean freekin loud!
This is sounding real interesting. I may take woolery's advice and leave one mazdacomp in.
Any comments on throttle response or anything of the like? I know when I put in my mazdacomp's the car seemed more lively...
Throttle response did improve greatly over stock mounts but it's kind of hard to tell because of all the vibration. The only thing that I am wondering is if the vibrations would improve with a fully balanced motor.
What does MMR stand for? I have the stiff rubber motor mounts from Mazdaspeed (aka Mazda Motorsports Development aka Mazda Comp.) Are these the same thing? They're definitely buzzy. I have all sorts of good vibes now.
*** Mounts install in place stock rubber engine mounts.* Feature an Aluminum core incased in UHMW.* Fully threaded rod extends all the way through the mount so that mount breakage is eliminated.* Mounts produce more vibration than stock, but not as much as solid metal mounts.
The mazdaspeed mount are a pillow compared to these. Lol
I'm pretty sure going metal is unnecessary. Those are very pretty, however, the delrin one's I have do not let the motor move at all.. zero. I had the hood popped after install. Took it up to 6.5k rpm and motor made no movements.
Just curious if anyone has sat on the passenger side with the hybrid mounts. How are they?
