Test and tune day here at the house, i got in a ARC Radiator cap from Japan today, thanks to Metro Motorsports for sourcing all these JDM goodies. :mrgreen:

Today's test is the following;

ARC 1.5 Bar High Pressure Radiator Cap.......
VS.
Sapporo High Pressure Beer Cap. \(^_^)/

After many hours of testing, i have found that the ARC 1.5 Bar Rad Cap does work well on the car, adding a much needed cooling effect along with some JDM bling bling. Where as the Sapporo Beer Caps did not fit on the Radiator at all?? #-o However i found they worked much better off the bottle, trust me, i removed several of them with the same JDM dizzy effect. 8)

As you can see, i had a little help cleaning off the last few drops of Sapporo. :wink:

:twisted: PhatMiata & Spanky the Bulldog says.......... Sapporo Caps no fit Miata Radiator, and leave you dizzy, ARC parts fit Miata much better.
ARC for the Win!! \(^_^)/

disclaimer: no animals or JDM parts were harmed in this comparison test.

PhatMiata :shock:

how do you know it helped cooling ?
hahahaa i knew this was coming, hahaha guys, I say this in a relative way, i did not sit down and run a formal pressure test, or cooling test as i dont have that kind of equipment. I did a finger check of the tension spring vs. a stock unit, it feels slightly stiffer. However, being that this ARC unit is a 1.5 bar version that would be about 22-24 lbs PSI (what is stock? 1.1?) so..... theoredically this should help cooling by raising the boiling point, maybe more beneficial with very heated conditions such as extreme heats from weather (I live in Florida) or formal racing (not street racing mind you), maybe autoX and the like. Basically the ARC cap increases the pressure inside the radiator, thus raising the coolant boiling point and increasing cooling efficiency. As well as raising my bling bling factor in the CR.net garage. :twisted: (i wont lie) :twisted:

Hope that helps explain? 8)

Later plans would be for me would be to upgrade the thermostat to a Mazdaspeed Thermostat, get a larger capacity all metal ARC, Koyo, PWR, or similar radiator, and maybe some SPAL fans to increase airflow. Where does it end right? Mo money, Mo money, Mo Money! =D>
