Had the Blackbird Fabworx GT3 bar for almost a month now but finally gotten around to posting a belated review..

Short version: Awesome..! The door bars really make a difference and the car is SOLID..!

Long version: All the positive reviews on the Miata forums and write-up on the Insideline project Miata I finally convinced me to bite the bullet and go for it. After several discussions with Moti decided to go for the 6 point GT3 (x-brace version) with a welded harness bar. Living in the Bay Area, got a round trip airfare from Southwest, hopped on the car and dropped it of at Moti. I also asked him to make a new set of brackets for my seats and we also picked a powdercoat color to match the car.

Moti was a pleasure to deal with and he sent me regular updates via phone/email. Two weeks later (being my fun car I wasn't in a rush) the car was ready for pick up all washed up.

Simply put the improvement in chassis rigidity is amazing. This is primarily due to the door bars which connect to the front rocker panels that are significantly stiffer than the floor boards that the other commercially available bars connect to. Potholes, railroad crossings.. bring it on.. The car simply glides over them..! As with any door bar getting in and out does become a bit more difficult but it's really not that bad even for guys like me who's well past prime time
. Also with the x-brace rear visibility is really a non-issue.

On to pictures..
Close-up of the bad ass gussets..

From my very first Kinod..

The door bars with the door closed:

You can see they're basically tucked in the door panels and don't intrude much into the cabin space.

The notching on the door panels to accommodate the bars. Only time you notice it when the door is open. Moti kept most of the door skin and one of these days I'll ask an upholstery shop to see what it'll cost to cover them up completely.

The beefy door bar mount
You can see the dead pedal is still usable. Moti also puts 3M film on the bars to prevent them from being scratched.

Tried to take a picture of rear visibility which didn't come out too great but you can see it's really not bad at all...

This picture came out pretty crappy but Moti also made some kick ass seat brackets which properly centers the seat and I'm sitting LOW.. Also has provisions for 5/6 pt mount and is powdercoated the same color as the roll bar.
