Bethania Garage/ Hard Dog bad experience...BEWARE!!

I purchased a used Harddog Hardcore Single Diagonal roll bar off the internet. The bar arrived fine and even came with all the nuts and bolts. I called Bathania garage who makes the bar to find out if there was anythign else I needed. I was told I should order a new hardware kit since it is not a good idea to use the old hardware. This was Thursday 6/11. I gave him my credit card and he said it would go out Friday 6/12. A week to receive it shouldn't be too bad so I postponed installing the bar until the following weekend.

I arranged with some friends to come over for a beer and rollbar install party of sorts. So by Wednesday of the following week the parts had not showed up but Bethania Garage was already closed. I called him on Thursday and he said that he just mailed the parts today. I reminded him that he said they would go out last Friday and he said, "hey, Im busy and did the best I could." I was a little because he said he was going to mail them a week ago and now I woudl have to postpone the get together and wait an additional week. After looking at my old stuff I realized I coudl go down the Ace Hardware and buy it all and probably save some money...the kit is $30 plus shipping.

So I called him back to cancel the order and he tells me UPS has already picked up. I called UPS and they said their guy had not been out there yet and had not picked anythign up. So I call Bethania Garage again and he swears that it is gone and tells me to just refuse the order when UPS delivers.

I refused the order and they went back. Today I was looing over my bank staeemnt and realized there was never a refund from Bethania and only the charge showed up. So I called him and he said that he does nto keep any credit card records and for me to receive my refund I have to give him all my credit info again and he will refund it tomorrow.

So basically had I not called he would have never refunded me the money. I mean doesnt he keep phone records or send me a letter sayign he did not have my credit info. What ever happened to customer service?

Bottom line, I will never buy form him again nor would I ever recommend him to anyone. Seems rather dishonest.

I ordered my Cage from them a while back and i had nothing but a great experience with them i even received my cage a week ahaid of schedule. i will say this tho, if you look at all the miata owners with roll bars out there generaly most of them are from hard dog. with that being said that would ammount to them being extremely busy. and dont forget they also make spec miata cages that most racers run.

This guy spewed his crap over on the ^ forum and got shouted down with so many positive experience responses that he had to come over here and foul up this forum.

Took him a while. I wonder where he'll go next to spread his sob story.

Tom's good people, and he makes a good product. One person's lopsided story (I understand there is more to the story. I'll hopefully learn more this weekend) does not a "bad" vendor make. Don't believe everything this guy thinks.

Yes Scott - I saw him over at m.net doing the same thing - Tom is a wonderful person and does the best he can and I know one must voice one's opinion in relation to any experience but you have to wonder why this person needed to go to another forum (and maybe others) to get his point across. Just very strange that someone would go through all this with quite honestly a small issue and to make it mass public.

I ordered my HDHCHTDDSSw/HB directly from Tom, as well as my racing harness, he is good people. Tom and his parts are just as good, he IS honest to deal with, and this is probably the 1st thing i have ever heard negative about him since i ordered my rollbar from him back in 1999. :mrgreen:


If you want to leave negative feedback for him you will have a hard time, as others have said, he deals with so many cars im sure this was an isolated incident. And everyone else has nothing but positive words for him and his company.

If you get upset over a weeks delay, and on a loss of $30 you are way to uptight, try pre-paying for $800 ~ $1000 parts from Japan and then waiting 6 ~ 8 Months to get them. hahhaahaha

I've ordered three bars from him, he even hooked me up with this bar (don't want to say what he did for me). I can only imagine he had a bad day or Betty (I think thats her name) wasn't around and he had to do the order taking and rollbar making himself. Tom is a great guy and I'd think this is a one-time thing for him. Sucks you had a bad dealing with him, but he really is a great guy to deal with.

i'll go ahead and chime in since we're bringing this from the dead. I bought a cage from them and picked it up in person, and they were really nice and gave me everything I needed in labeled containers, and a free hat and vinyls. GREAT SELLER WOULD BUY AGAIN A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
