i just ordered one from them today because the transmission felt "loose" when shifting and it took like 5 mins to install it and it is a major difference over the stock plastic shifter bushing! also it is some added security because the plastic bushing can break leaving you stuck with no way to shift gears #-o
Wouldn't using a harder material cause a couple more problems? Like...
-Won't the friction of the shifter bushing moving around create metal shreds?
-Since it's aluminum, wouldn't it be harder to remove if it's some how dented or damaged?
If this isn't the case, I might get myself one of these days.

inside the transmission there is a reservoir of gear oil to keep things lubed up plus i rather slam gears with a piece of alumnium then a piece of plastic. also it will not shread on you.
Mazdaspeed carried these years ago. I had always wanted to get one, and recently picked up a Beatrush version. I think it is made of brass. Still have to install, I'm just waiting for the Redline trans oil to be delivered, so I can do both at once...

OK, figured I'd bump this thread instead of making another. Anyone have any problems with their's being, a little more than tight?? I put mine in and I could only shift between 3rd and 4th gears I ended up putting the still good bushing back in so I could move my car around for the time being, but I had to put the shifter between the jaws of a vice and beat out the shifter with a punch to get it off. Yes, I used a little bit of oil on the bushing prior to install, but goddamn, that's ridiculous! I don't know if I have shitty luck and got a bad one or what. Anyone else have a similar problem? I could probably take a Dremel to it, but wouldn't that defeat the purpose of a new aluminum bushing?
I know mine is in the ballpark of around 200k+ miles, unless it was replaced or rebuilt by the PO, but I highly doubt it. Still smooth though. I sent Steve a message through email about it and waiting on a reply after I get a micrometer on it, said it might be one that slipped through, which would be my luck. It's like the bushing does not want to pivot on the shifter itself at all, like it's frozen on there
The one i got from planetmiata was a mazda part. I assume it was the mazdacomp. And it made a big difference in my shift feel. I love it. I have heard of some people having issues with it though. Seems to depend on the amount of wear in all the linkages.
Same place, same part, I'm assuming. I don't think it's my linkage, as it shifted fine before, I just wanted it a little "tighter" on the shifter itself. I replaced almost all the other parts, save for the "guide" on the shifter on the front of it, didn't realize it was replaceable until today I could understand firm, but this is a 2 gear option, 3rd and 4th after working it back and forth a few times, and no side movement whatsoever :cry2:

Also of note... despite the OPs statement... if the stock bushing goes you do Not loose the ability to shift. I had one go out at the track and other than shifter rattle, nothing was affected.
