So I'm using the wheel offset calculator linked to by 949 racing:
http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp And I am trying find a good size spacer to use on my TD 15X7 +30's so that when I run them they don't look all sunken battle ship style since my front fenders are very very stretched and I'm doing a minor rear flare (autokonexion v2) for my 002's. So, simple enough I plugged in the TD's and the 002's specs into the calculator and it says the outside edge of the wheel is 43mm further out with the 002's than the TD's are. Good so far. So, I don't necessarily want the TD's out quite as far as the 002's so I figure a +25 spacer would be pretty good - should add up to make an effectively 15x7 +5mm wheel. Now check out these spacers: http://www.saferacer.com/miata-cage-...productid=1312 This is where it gets confusing. They list the 3/8" spacer as a +35. Using a mm to inch converter it says that 35 mm is equal to 1.38" NOT 3/8". It says the 1" spacer is a +150! What am I missing here?? does the +35 not mean 35mm? I'm confused. Someone set me straight? |

It really doesn't matter what they are showing. If it's wrong it's wrong, or if it doesn't apply to you, then it doesn't apply to you, no? If you understand offset which it sounds like you do in the first part of the post, then why worry about someone listing a 1" spacer as a +150.

true true I guess it was just rubbing me the wrong way. Some small part in me wanted to believe that these were special spacers that bent the laws of physics and their 1/4" spacer to REALLY DID add +23mm and because they say you don't need longer wheel studs for 1/4" spacers and smaller, I could run it and not have to spend the extra $100 on studs...
yeaaa.... Ok well longer track studs ($100) and 1" lightweight spacers ($100) are in my near future. Lovely, just more to add to the $1500 I wanted to spend revamping the car which has now turned into $2500. Cars are so awesome!!!! /rant |
