I am thinking of making the jump to sportbrakes as my brakes soon need replacing on my 1.6. My look on it is, I might as well upgrade what needs to be replaced instead of waste money on the same old crap.
Curiousity has struck me. With the front rotors on the sport brakes being 11in like the corrado rotors used n the trackspeed BBK. Is there a bracket that can mount wilwood calipers to the sport rotors? This is for a future mod and I wont be doing it just yet. It will help me pull the trigger on the sport brakes. The sport brakes will be more then enough for me right now. I just really despise the look of our oem calipers. Plus the extended pad life of the wilwoods would be nice. Also when I switch to the sport brakes I'd like to upgrade my lines with stainlesslines. Will I just need to get lines made for the sportbrake setup or will I run into issues since this is on an NA? |

11in? Do you mean the rear sport brakes too? I'm not aware of a 11in rear rotor unless it comes from one of those BBK kits. They offer the ss lines for $100 for the wilwoods at the time of purchase, its on the drop down menu.
Anyone know the weight difference between the front sport brake rotor and a front corrado rotor? I have read the corrado ones are heavy. |

On US models, the larger so called "sports brakes" came on the 2001 and 2002 suspension package, the LS and the SE. Starting in 2003 all models had them. All of these came with 16" wheels (the Mazdaspeeds had 17" wheels). The models that came with 15" wheels had the same smaller brakes that all '94-00 models had.
Models with 15-inch wheels: 10.0-inch ventilated front discs, 9.9-inch solid rear discs Models with 16-inch (or 17-inch) wheels: 10.6-inch ventilated front discs, 10.9-inch solid rear discs Remember it's beneficial to also grab a BMC from a NB with the larger brakes if upgrading from the 1.6 sizing. |

Hey one last question gents.
I have been searching around but i cannot figure this out. If going with the sport brakes on my 1.6 will I need different brake lines? Like say I already had stainless lines on my brakes now, are they different for the sport brakes in either threading or size compared to the 1.6 calipers? I'm putting together my shopping list and i dont want to start this and realize half way through I can't screw in the lines. |

Georgie-you have the wilwoods on the sport brakes right now? I'm begining to lean towards just nabbing a set of sport brake calipers+brackets with new pads and rotors and calling it good for now. I think I can put it together pretty cheap, and that sounds good to me haha. I'll worry about the wilwoods later on. It has to be leaps and bounds better then the 1.6 brakes. |

two piece rotor too? Goodwin and FM better reprice their stuff, otherwise they are out of the brake game haha. Finally someone sells a Kit at a reasonable price. With the calipers costing 300 for a pair of powdercoated ones, I was always offended by the 1500+price on the wilwood based kits available. Thank you wilwood!

I am going to take a stab in the dark and say the price of $650 seems totally reasonable with the pricing of their other kits running the same calipers and sized rotors. They have a rsx, honda fit, integra, and civic fitting kit right now on sale for $499 on their main page. It comes with free stainless lines too. I'd say things look good.

I'm really excited to see more info on this kit directly from Wilwood. I was all lined up to buy a kit from Goodwin within the next couple months, but this could change everything. |

Also, here is a link to prop valve info if anyone is interested in changing the brake balance (e.g. your front brakes lock up too much) http://www.flyinmiata.com/tech/stock_bpv.php It's kind of interesting the 16" NB models have 10.6" F and larger 10.9" R rotors... |

It's 15/16" instead of the 7/8" that is standard on all other Miatas.
Remember that the rear disc is solid, so running a slightly larger rear can dissipate the heat better without having to go to a vented (heavier) rotor. |

Just got this email from wilwood. Sharing the information.
Thank you for the inquiry with Wilwood Disc Brakes. Our Mazda Miata kit was just released and has not been updated on our website. The kit is for the 95-2005 Miata and includes 11" x 0.81" vented plain-faced rotors, Dynalite 4-piston calipers, BP-10 Street pads (Wilwood), aluminum hat, brackets and hardware. The kit is priced at $634.69 and the line kit (OEM style lines will not work) are part number 220-11751 priced at $66.61 for the front set. |
