I bought the really rashed up set that was FS on the boards (here), and sent them off to a wheel repair shop to be fixed. They are bead blasting, repainting, machining lips, and truing the wheels.
Here are some current pics ![]() This is the bent and chunked one: ![]() As you can see, the lips came out like new. The shop is blasting the paint off of the wheels, and doing a fresh coat of gold/clear on the wheels and lug covers. I have 4 good condition lug covers, and center caps with the RAYS badges and spring clips. Finding someone to re-coat the RAYS badges will be another trial all together. I was also able to come across the correct size spanner for these center nuts, which is supposedly a pain to find. I made a critical mistake before sending them off though. I did not get measurements of any of the vinyl decals beforehand. My talented vinyl guy (bdtgfx.com) is able to replicate the stickers, but I need width/height measurements. If you have a set of these wheels, or know someone who does, please take some measurements and post them up. Apparently, there are almost no sets of these here in the states I can't wait to get these wrapped and mounted! Thank you for any help |

Side request:
These are 15*7" +35 and I am dropped (not slammed) on DGR coilovers. What tire size would look best on these, and should I look for a spacer or should they sit nicely as-is? recent-ish shot of the car:

The other issue that I am unsure of, is what type of lug nuts to run. I want something secure, and (I'm guessing) short. It doesn't look like there is much room under the caps.

For the stickers, head to astinagt.com
Find the sponsors section, look for Rupewrecht's area, contact Rupewrecht. He will be able to get you correctly sized stickers for MS01R. Or just get some MS03, no sticker worries, the Mazdaspeed logo is cast into the wheel centre. edit: as for wheel nuts, wny not stock? strong, short, free, should fit. |

Yeah, not dropping $45 on 12 stickers, and waiting 1 month (which was his price/time quoted. I have the designs ready to go with a local guy, just need the measurements (that no one wants to give out). I suppose stock nuts would work, but I want something with a key lock. I'll probably just get a set of Mac Guards. They do the job well.

Wheels came back (again) today, and I'm pretty satisfied with the results. Tires, lug nuts, and vinyl logos are in the mail.

I received the BFG G-Force Sport Comp 2s in the mail today, in 195/50/15. The guy I talked to at Tire Rack really sold me on them, even though they were currently out of stock. He actually drove on them for their testing write-up, and said they outclassed everything comparable. He mentioned that this tire's sizing runs a little wide. I'm just not auto-crossing enough to warrant the Star Specs, and our roads here will destroy softer tires.
They misplaced my valve stems, during the refinishing process, so I'm ordering the 949s. Hopefully they will find the original valve stems, as they were brass, and would look killer on the wheels, when clean. The wheel vinyls, rays lugs, and valve stems should be here next week. |

![]() Rear caps are having some fitment issues with the lugs. Here she sits without spacers, corner balanced, and the height raised for optimal suspension travel

I had a set of those wheels and like a fool i sold them.
I also have a white car, but i had stripped them of paint while deciding what color to paint them. They look very nice on your car. I didn't have the center caps with mine and are hard to find and cost a fortune when you do.... On the car ![]() Just finished stripping and polishing

I have yet to find anyone here (Stateside). I had to hunt all over for 1 lug cover, 1 center cap, and 2 of the spring clips, and almost spent as much as I did on the wheels. I am basically married to them, after the amount invested, but I do not mind at all!

Rupwrecht over at AstinaGT gets them often, but after paying his shipping/import fees (Japan-to-Aus) and the shipping fees (Aus-to-USA)... Freaking OUCH. Rod (Tetsuya Garage) was unable to source them for me.

But it is one you are already using, AstinaGT, he did mention they were dear but if you want them, then you have to pay the price.. Still wish i hadn't sold them though. |

$370 wheels & shipping from Florida.
$800 refinishing/lip repair/machining/trued out $190 replacement lug cover, center cap, spring clips, center cap wrench, custom reproduction vinyl ------ $1360, for basically new old wheels + valve stems & tires. ( I hope my GF never reads that part) I could have bough a very good (small curb rash/paint chips) set from Rupwrech (AstinaGT.com), but after shipping I was looking at $1300 anyways. The center cap wrench is a bit smaller than the normal Rays wrench, fwiw |

Looks good demoniam. Really enjoying the Mazdaspeed badging. Very retro early 90's tuner feel to it.

Just saw this, and wow, those look nicely done. I am wondering if a metal fab shop could bend a set of those stainless pins... Any installed pics?

I failed miserably at trying to make my own spring clips from stainless welding filler rod, I even tried alloy filler rod but it wouldn`t take a 90 degree bend without cracking (even tried annealing it over the kitchen cooker, big fail and finger burns, DOH!) So am still looking, may try getting an engineering shop to make a jig and knock-out a batch to sell. I just sold my set of Watanabe 15" split rims to a guy in Liverpool for £480 (with BSA centre caps) so here are the photos, they were black when I sold them but he wanted gold so as the customer is always right: ![]() ![]() The caps are now fitted to the MS01-R, will get some photos of them installed once we get some sunny weather: ![]() ![]() I have organised another MX-5 / Eunos Roadster / Miata 5 day trip to the Nurburgring 9 cars this year (third year in a row) we leave in 21 days and cant wait! Here is a photo of `LightningMxQueen` ( ) We has another set of MS01-R`s on that car too, sadly I sold the car when someone made me an offer I just couldn`t refuse, here`s how it looked from the outside:
