It was my first autox evar on R-comps (225 NT01's on 15x9 6UL's). I've got a lot to learn about driving on these things. What I learned yesterday is that I just need to trust the damn things. I only got 4 runs and each run was *significantly* faster than the one before. I shaved 2 full seconds off between run 3 and 4. If I had another couple runs I'm fairly confident I would have had 1st place in SSM. (I took 2nd to another Miata that beat me by .6 sec).
I did manage to pwn this guy by over a second: ![]() Trailer queen C6 on Hoosiers...and the course we were on was pretty 'Vette friendly. A couple of fairly high speed sweepers and a pretty fast straight section in the middle that saw me on the rev limiter in 2nd. I was happy. Next event should be better as I'll have more confidence on the tires and will be able to start faster at the beginning of my session. |

I did feel like a bit of a sucker for taking the first run so slowly...even though I wasn't really trying to. It ended up being 4.5sec slower than my fastest run. |

You'll find those tires are alot more fun when you can actually get them up to temp on a roadcourse. They are so slippery compared to a real autox R comp.

Yeah, I was gonna ask if you were even able to get them warm? I can barely get mine warmed up on the country roads before they start making noise. Great grip for sure.

First thing I noticed wasnt the increased cornering grip but the braking grip. Its amazing to me how quickly I can scrub off speed w/ the NT-01's.

you know, i had friends in spec 944 who had to switch to the R888 from the RA-1 and they hated it... less grip, less feel and they wear out quicker. isint tire evolution sposed to go the other way around? dont get me wrong im not sayin its a bad tire...

For the last year I've been using 275 Hoosiers on autocross and toyo 245 on the street... Since it's been more than a month from the previous racing event, when I drove the car with the Hoosiers this weeked it felt like a mini van taking way more angle than what it used to. I have 550 lbs/inch springs and I'm looking to move to 850lbs/inch (which will probably be too much for the streets) |

I've experience both tires on autox. BUT, I've driven on RA-1's in a AWD. Obviously a different feel from a RWD. It's been almost 2 years since I've autox'd the RA-1's. So I can't tell you the difference. LOL. |

how much faster would a set of R6's in 275 then say a 225 888's on around a 1 minute track? Are they pretty much the same as full slicks or in between that and road legal r comps? I am considering getting a set when my A048's run out.

Another 2 sec faster and you'll be as fast as a 1.6L on street tires
https://axwaresystems.com/axorm/file...09_fin.htm#ssm https://axwaresystems.com/axorm/file...09_fin.htm#sts That's Andy Franco. Nice guy but just out there for fun The R-comps will do that though. They have great grip and you'll LOVE running on them If you want a co-driver to help you learn the tires and the car I'm always up for helping if I'm in town. Or get on dfwmiata.com and say hey in the forums. There are some nice guys there who can help. Not trying to be mean at the beginning but just givin ya some crap Here's a pic of my car if you wanna look for me sometime And here's a guy who prolly has pics of your car if you want em: http://www.autocrosspictures.net/ Quote:
