Very cool! I had not seen a few of those. I am guessing the 1006 was a one-off. Got any more pics of that? Also, the 1005 is sweet. Is there anywhere to find more info on the history of these cars?

Interesting car, but not a M2-Inc vehicle, but a MNAO concept.

M2-1020

http://rextreme.blogspot.com/1995/04...-m2-m1020.html

Quote:
The Mazda M2 1020 was built as a trial manufacturing exercise in Japan. It was expected to be sold in 1995 after the third win in the Australian Bathurst Production 12 hour championship race. This was to be the full Mazda Japan backed version that was already on sale in Australia as the SP. It incorporated all the enhancements of the oz model with an addition of a central stay to re-enforce the rear spoiler.

Only two were built in Japan, however it is known that the body panels were on sale for a while in Kanagawa at a dealer near the Maxda R&D Facilty without approval and there is talk of only 1 set being sold in Japan. But there are a few cars wearing this kit including the
There are 35 SP versions that wear the same body kit in Australia. And a few spares have known to become available in private hands also. Katayama Racing in Japan has a set as Katayama san probably got it from Mazda when he used to race in the 767B.

Originals were carbon fibre, not FRP so they were incredibly expensive. Bonnet was vented aluminium. This was a shame that the project was cancelled as it also ended the SPII's future in Australia. Now that was an awesome machine.

The 1008 is really well inspired. That should have made it into production!

The 1005 & 1023 look great too. I had no idea M2 did 323 Familias also. I've always had a soft spot for the 323 Familia GTX's

The 1006's fender lines and trunk resemble NBs. I dig.

Makes me want to look into the 929's V6 more than I have the KL-DE/ZE.

if they had made the m2-1006 instead of the miata... i'd have bought one for sure.

i'm sure almost all of us would have!

It would have cost more than a turbo FD3s. I'm not that rich.

And nor were they Japanese when it was due to be released; they were skint, due to the crash.

Apparently the M2-1003 was "for women".

even if it only had the BP, i'd still get it...

i wonder how much it would have cost them to keep that hood, and add the front bumper + fenders + trunk
